The other bets are known as tiger bets and involve predicting totals. These are standard, small, big, and tiger pair bets. A normal tiger bet is a punt that the banker win will occur and will total six. If they do this on a two-card bet, it pays 12 to 1, and if they do it on a three-card bet, it pays 20 to 1.
Similar is a small tiger bet. This is a wager that the banker will get a six on two cards, even if they don’t win. This pays out 22 to 1. A big tiger bet is the same as a three-card total, and this pays out 50 to 1. Lastly, there is a tiger pair bet. This states that 4 to 1 will be paid for a single pair, 20 to 1 for a double pair, and 100 to 1 for a twin pair.
How Did Baccarat Gain its Reputation?
Many people view Baccarat as a high-class game, with some level of exclusivity. This may explain why it was chosen as the game of choice for James Bond in the classic novels. The first written mention of it known on record dates from 1866 in the Daily Telegraph newspaper.
Baccara is a French word, with the anglicised version adding the T. It most likely originated in France during the 1800s. Some people attribute it to having arrived from Italy, but others dispute this and believe it was a similar game of Basset. Thus, it is hard to pin down an exact time and location from which Baccarat arrived.
Today, this high-class reputation is not doing it much good. It is not one of the most played casino games, though it is just as thrilling as blackjack, roulette, or poker.
