Special Feature: The Lady Brewer of London by Karen Brooks
If you have followed my blog for any length of time, you will know just how much I love historical fiction! I always have my ear to the ground for new historical fiction reads and this one is begging me to check it out! Today I have it up for special feature, but will be reading it a little later on this year. It’s out now and sounds like it’s going to be something a little on the different side. So many historical fiction books are set in three main time periods, Tudor, Victorian/Regency, and WWII. This book is none of those but rather a Medieval period. I haven’t read…

Review: The Star-Crossed Sisters of Tuscany by Lori Nelson Spielman
Due to COVID this was a book whose release date got pushed back a couple of times so to be honest, I forgot about it for my fall reading! It was supposed to come out in September and I thought it would be a great book to close out of late summer reading with. But then it was pushed out until November and I simply forgot about it until I checked my reading calendar and saw it was time to start reading! Well….I take that back, I saw it was a Book of the Month pick for November and I was so excited because I knew it was coming up…

Review: Gentleman Jim by Mimi Matthews
I haven’t met a Mimi Matthews book that I didn’t love and Gentleman Jim is no exception! I absolutely loved this one! Mimi Matthews is an auto-buy author for me. She always writes such wonderful romances with heart, chemistry, and they always leave me satisfied with a smile. I will say that I didn’t love the title of the book but when I read the author’s notes about why she went with Jim instead of Jack, I could understand but I still liked Gentleman Jack better. But no matter, Gentleman Jim is a large part of the story but not necessarily a principal character. If you love The Count of…

Review: The Diabolical Bones (Brontë Sisters Mystery #2) by Bella Ellis
This is a series that could have gone so wrong or so right depending on the execution. The Bronte sisters as detectives? I just wasn’t sure when I first heard about it. But I am also a huge fan of all things Bronte so I decided to read the first book anyway. I am so glad I did, because I loved it! I worried that it would be hokey because the Bronte’s wrote romance rather than mystery so I just worried it wouldn’t translate well in this modern mashup of Brontes and murder. But it was great the first book was so fun and interesting that when the next book…

Special Feature: THE CUL-DE-SAC WAR by Melissa Ferguson
Anyone need a rom-com to get through the holidays this year? I know I do! I love rom-coms during the holidays even if they don’t really have a holiday element to them. This one has been getting a lot of attention all over social media which may or may not be a good thing, but for me this one sounds like a winner! I am going to read it a little later on this winter but for now, I am bringing you all the details here! If you love rom-coms and books that are getting a little buzzy then this might be one you should add to your TBR or…

Special Feature: Without a Brew (Sloan Krause #4) by Ellie Alexander
I have been a big fan of Ellie Alexander! I have enjoyed this series quite a bit but couldn’t get it on my review schedule for the fall, however I am going to read it later on this winter! Alexander is a Pacific Northwest writer and I have loved reading her books that are all set in Oregon and Washington. Many of the places I know and recognize which makes the book hold a special place in my heart! This particular series has a craft brew element which may or may not be you thing but I personally enjoyed it and I love all of her descriptions of the beers…

Special Feature: The Rules of Enchantment by Wendy Tardieu
Fantasy and romance always makes for an interesting combo in my opinion. I mean seriously, magic and fantasy are romantic just by themselves but when you add in actual romantic love I just think it’s a great combo! Today I have this lovely new fantasy/romance mash up on my blog for special feature! This one comes in at just under 200 pages so it will make a quick read so if you are into romance and fantasy, then I think this could be a fun quick read for you! This book has been labeled an ‘erotic’ fantasy adventure but from some of the reviews I have been reading, many say…

Review: Spellbreaker (Spellbreaker Duology #1) by Charlie N Holmberg
I normally stay clear of duologies. For some reason they just feel unfinished and odd to me and historically I just haven’t enjoyed them as much as I have trilogies. But how could I pass on this cover? There was no way I was going to pass on this one because that cover it too stunning to not pick it up and read it! Plus I know that this author has written another successful series (The Paper Magician) that I have had my eye on for so so so long. I thought the book sounded like a quick easy read with a lot to recommend itself. I mean, how can…
