Special Feature: 10 Rules for Marrying a Duke by Michelle McLean
Love is in the air this month with it being Valentine’s Day and I typically lean toward more romances during the month of February! Earlier this year I really focused on reading more contemporary romances and cowboy romances, all of which were great but historical romances have my heart. There is just something that works so well in historical romances for me. I think part of it is that it feels like such a more refined era with wooing being more thought out and intentional. I just love historical romances. Naturally I always keep my ear to the ground for new historical romances and this one popped up on my…

Special Feature/Excerpt: The Last Duke Standing (A Royal Match #1) by Julia London
I randomly picked up a Julia London book last year at Christmas time simply because I loved the dress on the cover! I ended up enjoying it, even if I didn’t LOVE it, I still liked it enough to add Julia London to my list of go to romance writers! London has written a number of romances and romance series which have amassed a large following of fans, so when I saw this latest book (which is first in a new series by the way!) I knew I needed to get it on my radar as well as others who might be looking for a new romance to read! If…

Special Feature: The Secret Love Letters of Olivia Moretti by Jennifer Probst
Here in the Pacific Northwest, we had the week of what we call ‘the false spring’. We had a week of sunny and 65 degree weather and then—boom, it was back to 40 and raining worse than ever! It’s always this time of year when I long for the sun on my face and some warmer, longer days. In February and early March that is my prime time for what I call the ‘warm reads’. You know, the books that are set on warm sunny beaches or in this case, set on the Italian rivera! This book cover is eye catching with its sunny skies and sparkling blue water, and…

Special Feature: A Perfect Equation (The Secret Scientists of London #2) by Elizabeth Everett
Full disclosure, I picked up the first book in this series last year after having pre ordered the book and eagerly waited for it to come, only to be horribly disappointed. I didn’t finish the first book and felt incredibly sad about that. By all accounts this series should be right up my alley. I had majorly high hopes for the first book in the series. There wasn’t anything that really stood out as ‘bad enough to make me DNF’ but it just wasn’t holding my attention and I just didn’t know why. So why am I featuring this second book if I didn’t even like or finish the first…

Review: Ramon and Juileta by Alana Quintana Albertson
Am I Hispanic? No. But do I love Hispanic culture and traditions YES! My husband is Hispanic and I love combining our traditions and making something uniquely us so when I saw this retelling of Romeo and Juliet but with tacos, I was absolutely dying to read it! As a teenager, I loved Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet plus the Leonardo DiCaprio film was THE movie of my youth. As an adult, Romeo and Juliet is probably the least favorite of the Shakespeare plays (still love the DiCaprio film though!) but when I saw this book I couldn’t pass on it! I was so eager to see how this author spun…

Review: The Night Train to Berlin by Melanie Hudson
Ya’ll know how much of a sucker I am for WWII romances and historical fiction (which generally includes some kind of romantic element). I just can’t say no and that lovely cover just drew me in. Lately I’ve been reading some easy romances and a couple of solid thrillers so I haven’t really been in the mood to snag a more emotional war time novel but this one just stood out and I knew it was something that I would most likely love. I also love the Cornish coast so any book set there is a win-win for me. Author Melanie Hudson’s debut novel, The Last Letter from Juliet, was…

Special Feature and Excerpt: A Lullaby for Witches by Hester Fox
I first discovered Hester Fox a couple of years ago and absolutely fell in love with her gothic/supernatural romances. I have read almost all of them and naturally I have this one on my radar to read a little later this year. If you love witchy books then this one needs to be on your TBR list! Fox has such a wonderful way of incorporating history into her books and making it come alive in the story. I have every hope and expectation that this book will follow Fox’s pattern of interesting gothic feeling history mixed in to a supernatural romance. This book sounds like it’s going to follow two…

Review: How to Love Your Neighbor by Sophie Sullivan
You all know how much I love a great rom-com right?! Whether it’s a movie, tv show, or book, I am always down for romantic comedies. If you are a fan of the genre, you will also know that the market is full of great rom-coms and I feel like there is always a hot new release just begging for me to read it. It is always so hard for me to pick which ones I want to read first. So how do I decide which ones to pick? Sometimes it’s by feel and if I have openings on my calendar, other times I have to choose based on my…

Review: The Siren of Sussex (Belles of London #1) by Mimi Matthews
Mimi Matthews has been a long time auto-buy author for me. I’ve read all her books and have loved each and every one of them. Watching her author journey from early on has been so exciting and rewarding but in some ways sad. For me she was my best kept secret in the historical fiction genre and now the secret is out about how amazing she is with this big publishing house release! Matthews is a master at creating realistic female characters with charming heroes that come together with electric chemistry. I have raved about her books to friends, family, and all over my social media! She’s amazing and I…

Review: Well Matched (Well Met #3) by Jen DeLuca
Of all the books, I couldn’t wait to read April’s story! I think mostly because she and I are basically the same age and while I loved the other books I felt like this one was going to be the book I related to the most because of that reason. April is a single mom and divorcee who is a little antisocial and is counting down the days until her daughter graduates and she can start living her own life again. While I am NOT a single mom, I felt this connection to April early on in the books. I am also a little reserved and struggle to fit into…
