  • Review: A Lady’s Guide to Gossip and Murder (Countess of Harleigh Mystery #2) by Dianne Freeman

You all know how much I love a fun historical mystery and Kensington Publishing has a bevy  of fabulous authors to choose from. And I have read a number of them and consistently enjoy many of their authors. So when this one came up for review, I was counting on Kensington Publishing to not let me down! This author is new to me and even though it’s the second in a series, it is only the second book so I hoped that I hadn’t missed too much by starting on book 2 rather than book 1. The cover of this book is so bright, cheerful, and eye-catching…..I almost forgot that…

  • Special Feature: THE ORPHAN’S SONG by Lauren Kate

I think that many of you know how much I love historical fiction by now, so when this book arrived in my mailbox I was thrilled! Isn’t that cover just to die for?! And I have been seeing this book pop up, not just on my social media, but on many different lists as one of the summers hottest historical fiction releases. Today I am thrilled to share with all of you that THE ORPHAN’S SONG is officially out in the world and ripe for the reading. The author, Lauren Kate, is also going to be in the Portland area signing books at Powell’s Books Cedar Hills Crossing location and…

  • Special Feature: THE SUMMER GUESTS by Mary Alice Monroe

Summer reading is in full swing and I can’t tell you how many good books have popped up on my radar these last couple of months! I love seeing all the bright, springy covers and this one is one of my favorites! That cover looks like it fell right out of a Martha Stewart magazine and I absolutely love it and it screams ‘summer time’ to me. Mary Alice Monroe is a new to me author, but she has written a number of women’s fiction novels with the majority being summer time focused. This book has had a ton of advanced praise and is out now, so I wanted to…

  • Review: Summer on Mirror Lake (Honeymoon Harbor #3) by JoAnn Ross

I have only just discovered JoAnn Ross recently when I read her Christmas romance, Snowfall on Lighthouse Lane, which is also part of the Honeymoon Harbor series. I found her writing well practiced and the story entertaining and I was open to reading more of her books. As winter gave way to spring, another Honeymoon Harbor popped up as a review request and since I love summer romances, I figured this was a great time to say yes to another one of JoAnn Ross’s books! This cover was especially eye catching and since the story is set in the Pacific Northwest, I couldn’t help but be excited by both the…

  • Review: The Last Woman in the Forest by Diane Les Becquets

I wanted to read this book for entirely superficial reasons. I loved the dog on the cover. I know, I know, you can barely see the dog but I know it’s a husky and I have a husky so as a husky lover, I couldn’t pass this book up based on that alone. That and in the summary it sounded like said dog was going to be part of the book, as the main character worked with rescue dogs. So that’s what roped me in initially, but then I read the description and I liked the sound of the thriller/suspense genre mixed with a romance aspect of the book, so…

  • Review: The Poison Thread by Laura Purcell

Laura Purcell is an author who is on auto-buy for me. I read The Silent Companions last year and fell head over heels for her writing! I devoured The Silent Companions in days and lost sleep not just from staying up reading but from the creep factor as well! Such an incredible book. I was thrilled to see that she had a new book coming out, and intact, I sent off to the UK to have this one delivered because I loved the cover so much and couldn’t wait for her latest novel! I have had my eye on this book for months and couldn’t wait to get my hands…

  • Take Two Review: The Pearl Sister (The Seven Sisters #4) by Lucinda Riley (Audible Edition)

As I have been making my way through this series again, I was wondering how I would feel about this one again. I read it for the first time through back in early 2018, so not that long ago. The other two books I originally read a few years ago and then the third one was a first read for me. But this one I had read not that long ago, so the story is still relatively fresh in my mind, so I was eager to see how I felt about CeCe’s story this time around. CeCe was my least favorite of the sisters and having freshly come off of…

  • Review: The 5th Gender (Tinkered Stars Mystery) by Gail Carriger

As many of you know, I have been a long time fan of Gail Carriger. She is a consistently accomplished writer with unique and interesting books that I always seem to find myself burning the midnight oil to read. I am not a huge sci-fi fan. I don’t read a lot of it nor do I watch any sci fi. I mean I liked the idea of it, but it’s just not my genre at all. So when Carriger asked if I wanted to review this one…..I hesitated. But I did agree to read it based on the fact that she has always seemed to win me over no matter…
