Review: The Ancestor by Danielle Trussoni
The anticipation I had for this book was undeniable. I haven’t read anything by this author before, but I was in a Facebook group chat with her and won a copy of this book and couldn’t believe how good it sounded. I have only recently really gotten into the horror genre, I love Gothic fiction (to me there is a big difference) but recently I have opened up to reading more and more traditional horror books and this one sounded like a perfect blend of Gothic and horror. I was literally watching my mailbox like a hawk waiting for this one to arrive and when it finally did, I tore…

Review: A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder (A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder #1) by Holly Jackson
I stumbled on this book while scrolling through my Instagram feed and since I am my book club dictator—I mean book club host—I thought I would suggest this book for our June read since it sounded fun. A slight back story here, my book club is small and we all love murder mysteries so we try to read only murder mysteries but we have all read so many murder mysteries so it’s hard to find one we haven’t all read. Since this one just came out, I thought it would be a good pick. Fortunately everyone else thought the same thing and so it was settled—we would read this book…

Review: Across the Winding River by Aimie K. Runyan
I have been dying to get my hands on all of Aimie Runyan’s books since I first saw Daughter’s of the Night Sky a couple of years ago. There are always so many books and so little time—am I right? Well this year I wasn’t going to miss out on one of her books so when I saw that she had a new one coming out, I put it on my calendar so that I wouldn’t miss out! Reading this book was such a treat and I couldn’t be more excited to share a review if I tried! I now need all of her books and can’t wait to see…

Review: Redemption of the Maverick Millionaire by Michelle Douglas
As many of you know, I had done a lot of reviews and features for Harlequin and their affiliate publishing houses over the last few years and I have discovered a ton of great books perfect for escaping. This new Harlequin Romance novel came across my desk thanks to the author and while the cover seemed a little dated, I thought the story sounded fun and author Michelle Douglas has written a number of romance novels and all have been well received so saying yes to a review was easy! As I mentioned the cover wasn’t my favorite, I think the dress of the woman could have been better….it looks…

Special Feature and Excerpt: A Royal Kiss and Tell (A Royal Wedding #2) by Julia London
Julia London is a name that I instantly recognized as a well known romance writer. I haven’t read any of her books but in the numerous series that she has written, this series (A Royal Wedding) would probably be where I would start. London has a large fan following and many people rave about her ability to write authentic feeling romances with a clear knowledge of historical periods. So I was excited to check out a little sneak peak of her up and coming release, A Royal Kiss and Tell. Today I have that little excerpt here to share with you guys as well and I can safely say that…

Review: Red Sky over Hawaii by Sara Ackerman
I read my very first book by Sara Ackerman last year and really liked it, so when I saw that she was coming out with another war time book set in Hawaii, I was eager to read it. The covers of her books are all so beautiful and exotic feeling not to mention set on the gorgeous Hawaiian islands and featuring a unique view of WWII, it’s no wonder that I couldn’t resist her books! This was a book that I made room on my review calendar for and I am so glad that I did because it was a wonderful escape!

Review: Big Summer by Jennifer Weiner
This book is one of the buzziest books of the summer. It’s been everywhere and I have tried to stay away from reviews so as not to taint my own but it’s been so hard because it’s literally everywhere on social media right now. I had such great luck with Beach Read (another buzzy book) and I was eager to start this one thinking it would be really similar—-but it wasn’t. The cover makes me think this book would be more of a beach read but then the summary suggested women’s fiction and yet there was a mystery element to the story. Basically this book had a lot going on…

Special Feature: Forbidden Lust (Dynasties: Seven Sins #2) by Karen Booth
This summer, Harlequin has some sizzling romances out and today I have a little bit to share about Karen Booth’s latest novel, Forbidden Lust. Doesn’t that title just sound tantalizing? This book is the second in a series but easily could be read as a stand alone. This author has written a number of romances and I am eager to sample her stories as they sound wonderful. And since it is just about summer and all, this book is the perfect one to toss in your beach bag since it’s set in a tropical location—a secluded island paradise to be exact.

Review: The Paris Library by Janet Skeslien Charles
When I saw this book come across my desk for review, I knew it was going to be an easy yes. The cover is elegant and inviting, not to mention the title promised a literary lovers dream setting. I couldn’t wait to dive in and get caught up in the romanticism of Paris and a book that was sure to be an ode to book lovers everywhere. Now that I think back, I don’t even think I read the summary of the book before saying yes—that was how sure I was that I wanted to read this book. One look and I knew. I should also add that my sister…

Re-Share Review: Mistress of the Ritz by Melanie Benjamin
Last spring I picked this book up and was caught up in all it’s history and the lovely story. WWII is one of my favorite time periods and I had really enjoyed her book The Girls in the Picture so I was excited for this one. It didn’t disappoint and it also cemented Benjamin as a ‘tried and truth’ author in my opinion. Now a year later, Mistress of the Ritz is out in paperback and to celebrate, I wanted to re-share my review with you guys! If you missed it the first go around, then you definitely want to check out the paperback and curl up for a few…
