Shopping for a book lover sounds easy, right? Just buy them a book!

Except if you’re anything like me, you probably already have a towering TBR pile, a wishlist a mile long, and very specific opinions about which books you want to read next. 😂

So what do you buy someone who absolutely loves books but doesn’t necessarily need another one?

As a lifelong reader and book blogger, I’ve come across some pretty fun bookish gifts over the years. Some are things I personally own and love, while others are unique finds that I think would make wonderful gifts for the readers in your life.

From cozy reading accessories to personalized library stamps and beautiful bookshelf decorations, these are 10 non-book gifts for book lovers that are actually worth giving.

And honestly? A few of these might end up on your own Christmas wishlist!

Want to browse my bookish gift picks? I’ve rounded up some fun finds in my Amazon bookish gift list, so you can shop several of these ideas in one place along with my list of favorite Christmas books!

1. Storiarts Reading Gloves

There’s something wonderfully cozy about curling up with a good book, especially during the colder months. And these literary-inspired reading gloves from Storiarts are such a fun gift idea!

I love the idea of combining something practical with a little literary flair. They’re perfect for readers who love sitting outside with a book, reading in a chilly room, or just embracing that cozy bookworm aesthetic.

Storiarts has some really beautiful literary-inspired accessories, and these gloves would make a thoughtful gift for someone who appreciates classic literature.

2. A Personalized Book Stamp

Okay, this one I can personally vouch for because I have one and LOVE it!

A personalized book stamp is such a fun way to make your home library feel like an actual library. There’s something ridiculously satisfying about stamping your name inside a book and officially claiming it as part of your collection.

You can find stamps with beautiful floral designs, classic library-inspired artwork, or simple personalized lettering.

This is one of those gifts that feels a little more special because it’s customized specifically for the recipient.

If you know someone who treasures their personal library, I think this is a fantastic gift.

3. A DIY Book Nook Kit

Have you seen those miniature book nooks that fit right between the books on a shelf?!

They’re adorable!

These little DIY kits let you build an entire miniature scene, sometimes featuring tiny bookstores, libraries, magical alleyways, or cozy rooms.

I love this idea because it’s more than just a decoration. It’s also a project someone can enjoy putting together.

And once it’s finished, it becomes a beautiful little addition to their bookshelf.

This would be especially fun for readers who also enjoy puzzles, crafting, or anything miniature.

Just make sure you’re choosing a kit that matches the recipient’s patience level. Some of these have a LOT of tiny pieces!

4. A Literary Book Blanket from Storiarts

A cozy blanket and a good book? Yes, please!

Storiarts has literary-inspired blankets that would be beautiful additions to a reading nook, bedroom, or favorite reading chair.

I especially love gifts that are both practical and a little indulgent. A bookish blanket is something a reader can actually use, but it also celebrates their love of literature.

Pair it with a favorite book for an extra-special gift, or give it on its own.

Either way, I think this is a lovely option for someone who enjoys cozy reading afternoons.

5. A Bookish Tote Bag

Listen. Can a book lover ever have too many tote bags?

I’m going with NO. 😂

Whether you’re heading to the library, browsing your favorite bookstore, traveling, or just running errands, a good tote bag is always useful.

And there are SO many fun bookish designs out there!

You can find literary quotes, vintage library designs, floral prints, and funny sayings that every reader will appreciate.

Personally, I’d look for something sturdy with comfortable straps and enough room for several books.

Because we all know that going into a bookstore for just one book is a dangerous game.

6. A Kindle Paperwhite

This is probably one of my favorite gift ideas on the entire list.

I LOVE my Kindle Paperwhite.

Don’t get me wrong, I still love physical books, but having a Kindle is incredibly convenient. It’s wonderful for traveling, reading in bed, and keeping a whole collection of books in one place without needing another bookshelf.

I also bought a Kindle for my child for Christmas last year, and one feature I especially appreciate is the ability to customize the reading experience.

Kindle’s reading settings include options such as adjusting font size and choosing different fonts, including OpenDyslexic on supported devices. This can be a useful option for readers who prefer a different text presentation. My own child is dyslexic and this was an absolute GAME CHANGER for him (his words not mine!)

Of course, everyone’s reading preferences and accessibility needs are different, but I appreciate having those options available.

A Kindle Paperwhite is definitely one of the more expensive gifts on this list, but for someone who reads regularly, I think it’s worth considering.

7. A Bookish Kindle Cover

And if you’re giving someone a Kindle, why not get them a cute cover to go with it?

There are some seriously adorable Kindle covers available, from floral and vintage-inspired designs to literary quotes and whimsical bookish artwork.

Besides looking cute, a good cover helps protect the Kindle when you’re carrying it around in your bag.

I especially like the idea of pairing a Kindle Paperwhite with a beautiful cover and making it a complete gift.

Just double-check which Kindle model the person owns before ordering because the covers aren’t all interchangeable.

8. Decorative Book Jackets from Juniper Books

Okay, these are SO cool.

If you know someone who loves collecting books and displaying them on beautiful shelves, you need to check out Juniper Books.

They create gorgeous decorative book jackets that can transform an existing hardcover collection into a coordinated bookshelf display.

Some designs even create a larger picture across the spines when the books are lined up together.

I think these would make an especially fun gift for someone who already owns a beloved series and wants to give their collection a little makeover. I have these for both my A Song of Ice and Fire Collection as well as my Harry Potter collection and I absolutely love them.

They’re definitely more of a splurge gift, but they’re unique, beautiful, and perfect for readers who take their bookshelf styling seriously.

One thing to know: their jackets-only sets are designed for specific hardcover editions, so you’ll want to check compatibility before ordering.

9. Literary-Inspired Candles from Small Shops

I love the idea of supporting small businesses during the holidays, and literary-inspired candles are such a fun way to do that. I love Lichen and Limestones candles but there are TONS on Etsy too.

There are independent candle makers creating scents inspired by old libraries, bookstores, fictional worlds, and cozy reading atmospheres.

Think aged paper, cedarwood, vanilla, rainy afternoons, and all those wonderful scents that make you want to curl up with a book.

I especially love this as a gift for readers who enjoy gothic fiction, historical novels, or atmospheric mysteries.

And unlike some novelty bookish gifts, a candle is something that can actually be enjoyed during a reading session.

I’d look for a small shop with interesting literary-inspired scents and beautiful packaging.

10. A Padded Book Sleeve

This is one of those gifts that’s both cute AND genuinely useful.

If you’re someone who carries a book everywhere, you know how easily the corners and covers can get bent when you toss it into a bag.

A padded book sleeve helps protect your current read while you’re out and about.

There are some beautiful designs available, including floral patterns, vintage-inspired fabrics, and literary prints especially all over Etsy. For me I like the shop The Book Loft by Ashley but there are plenty of others out there as well.

I think this would make an especially thoughtful gift for someone who reads physical books regularly and likes to keep them in good condition.

You could even pair one with a bookish tote bag for a fun little gift set.

Final Thoughts on Gifts for Book Lovers

Buying gifts for readers doesn’t have to mean buying more books.

Sometimes the best gifts are the little things that make reading even more enjoyable, whether that’s a cozy blanket, a personalized book stamp, a beautiful Kindle cover, or something fun to display on a bookshelf.

I especially love gifts that feel personal and useful rather than just another piece of bookish clutter.

Whether you’re shopping for Christmas, a birthday, or just because, I hope these non-book gift ideas help you find something special for the reader in your life.
