  • Review: Shadowborn (Born Prophecy #3) by Katie MacAlister

I started reading this series last year and it’s been a decent fantasy series that had kept me mostly interested. There were some parts of the story that I liked better than others but overall it’s been pretty good and I felt invested enough in the series to see it through until the end. As this book is part of a larger series, I would not recommend picking this book up as a standalone as you would be missing out on large parts of the story.

  • Review: Head Over Heels by Hannah Orenstein

At first glance this book wasn’t eye catching to me. I wasn’t really feeling the basic cover and there was nothing that stood out to me as a reader. As I said the cover was just ok for me and the title wasn’t really unique but as I have said a million times before, I always read every pitch that comes across my desk because you just can’t judge a book by it’s cover, even though I think most of us are guilty of doing just that. If I had gone just on first impression alone, I would have missed a really great rom-com! I loved the premise of this…

  • Review: Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough (Audible Edition)

My murder mystery book club decided to read two books this month. The first book we selected for June we all read in like two days so we decided that we would pick a second book and this was it. This book sounded interesting-ish, but then again, many psychological thrillers sound similar so I wasn’t exactly convinced that this was going to be a new and different book than any of the other psychological thrillers out there right now. But I decided to listen to it on Audible and hoped for the best.

  • Review: The Lost Orphan by Stacey Halls

I love how books find me. I have been eye balling the book The Foundling on Amazon for months now as well as The Familiars but I just haven’t decided to pull the trigger yet. The covers are gorgeous and the premise for each book sounds excellent, but I have been trying to be good and not buy so many new books so I decided to hold off on purchasing The Foundling. Flash forward to March when I was asked to review The Lost Orphan by Stacey Halls. I thought it sounded interesting and said yes, all the while I kept my eye on The Founding oh so longingly. When…

  • Review: Hello, Summer by Mary Kay Andrews

There are a couple of authors that I instantly think of when someone asks me what beach reads I recommend. Mary Kay Andrews is at the top of that list! She has written a ton of books and many of them carry a distinct summer feel. Reading one just puts me in the mood for summer! This book came out in early May and I was so bummed that I couldn’t read it when it first came out because I definitely needed something warm and sunny to chase the spring rains away! But I was able to pick it up this month just in time for all the big summer…

  • Special Feature and Excerpt: She’s Faking It by Kristin Rockaway

If this book cover doesn’t scream summer reading, then I don’t know what does! I love the coconut cocktail glass as a swimming pool and it just looks like the perfect summer read for your beach bag! I also loved the little tagline in the summery, ‘you can’t put a filter on reality’. It instantly caught my eye and looked like the perfect book for some summer reading. Today I am thrilled to be bringing you guys a little sneak peak from this lovely book and I sure hope you enjoy it and decide to check the book out! It sounds like such a fun read and I am super…

  • Special Feature: Eliza Starts a Rumor by Jane L. Rosen

Today Jane Rosen’s latest novel, Eliza Starts a Rumor, is out in the world and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share a bit about this exciting new summer read! Rosen has written a couple of well received books that have gathered quite the fan base of women’s fiction fans! I think the one most would recognize is, Nine Women, One Dress. I have seen that one quite a bit at different book stores and this new book is already gaining a buzz. This book is going to be a hit with women readers this summer so keep reading to check out all the details and where you can snag…

  • Review: A Royal Affair (Sparks & Bainbridge Mystery #2) by Allison Montclair

After reading the first book in this new historical mystery series last year at about this same time, I was eager to read the next installment and see how well the next mystery satisfied. I remembered really enjoying the relationship between the two main characters, Iris and Gwen. I thought they were funny and paired well together so I was eager to see how that translated in this latest mystery. The other thing that I thought sounded so much fun was this book was that this time the mystery was to include members of the royal family.

  • Review: The Twelve Clues of Christmas (Royal Spyness #6) by Rhys Bowen

Over the last year or so, I have been making a big effort to go back and catch up on some long running historical mystery series that I have loved but haven’t read all the books. The Royal Spyness books are at the top of that list. I read a few of the later books and then went back and read a few of the first books in the series but then I kind of stalled on the series and moved on to something else. I meant to pick this one up at Christmas time as this one is obviously set around the holidays, but I didn’t and then I…

  • Review: The Woman in the Green Dress by Tea Cooper

Let’s just start by pointing out the obvious here—-this cover is gorgeous! And then I read the summary and couldn’t wait to dive in! A cursed gemstone set in WWI, sign me up is exactly what I said! Ok if I am being honest, I stopped reading the summary after ‘cursed opal’ because I was already sold on this book! I haven’t read anything else by Tea Cooper but I know that she has written a ton of books, many of which sound interesting and fun so I felt confident giving this one a shot. Especially given that this book promised romance, mystery, and intrigue. All the things I love in…
