• Review: The London Restoration by Rachel McMillan

This is one of those books that when I saw the cover, I simply said yes without even pausing to read the summary. As many of you know I am a huge sucker for historical fiction and this cover hit all the historical fiction eye catchers it possibly could! I love the colors and the red hat just drew me right in and I couldn’t wait to check it out and see if the story lived up to the hype of the cover. Basically I went into this one blind since I said yes without even reading the summary and sometimes that works out for me. I didn’t know what…

  • Review: A Class Forsaken (A Matter of Class #3) by Susie Murphy

Over the last few years I have gotten to know Susie Murphy and her characters in the “Matter of Class” series and not only is she a wonderful person and author, but her saga has only gotten better. More about that in a minute but first I wanted to take a couple of minutes and gush over the beauty of this cover. It is absolutely stunning. Each cover design has been eye catching, memorable, and interesting but this one is my favorite cover design. I think it’s elegant and captures the essence of the saga. Now that I have raved about the cover a bit, let’s talk about how great…

  • Special Feature: Love Sold Separately by Ellen Meister

When I first saw this cover, the first things that came to mind were definitely NOT murder mystery. The cover says rom-com or chick lit and the title implies romance so when I saw that it contained a murder mystery, I was like—-say what?! It sounds like the story itself is more of a rom-com—but there is a murder mystery tied in and I think that sounds like such a fun read! I love when genres cross over and I am really excited to see if that works in this one. Sometimes it does, while others it doesn’t but I think either way this one sounds fun. I couldn’t get…

  • Special Feature: How to Catch a Sinful Marquess (The Disreputable Debutantes #3) by Amy Rose Bennett

My head was turned when I saw this cover. I absolutely love the pinks and purples in the cover and immediately wanted to know more. The title definitely sounded like a typical romance title so I obviously knew that this was going to be a romance novel, but I just really loved the cover and how the woman was placed and that there was no man on the cover, I wondered if this would be a bit of a different romance than I was expecting. Not to mention the male love interests name wasn’t something saucy like ‘Fabian’…..his name is Hamish. Talk about the least sexiest name out there. So…

  • Special Feature and Excerpt: The Dazzling Truth by Helen Cullen

A story set on an island off the coast of Ireland? Umm yes please! This story sounds like it’s going to be full of romance and self discovery and all set in Ireland. That to me was the cherry on top. This is a new to me author but I couldn’t be more excited to share about this book and also add it to my TBR. Full of tragedy and romance and yet wrapped up in a heart warming book, this one has been getting rave reviews and if you are looking for something that provides a bit of an escape then this one might be fore you. Be sure…

  • Review: A Little Bit of Grace by Phoebe Fox

I had no idea what this book was going to be about. I mean sure it had a summary of course, but in the sea of women’s fiction, many of the summaries as well as the covers tend to blend together. That’s what was happening for me with this book. The cover was cute but didn’t really stand out for me, the title also cute but didn’t grab me, and the summary sounded nice but not memorable. But let me tell you what was memorable—-the little notecard that came with the ARC stating ‘be a peacock not a pigeon’. It brought the biggest smile to me face and I immediately…

  • Review: Where the Lost Wander by Amy Harmon (Audible Edition)

I’ve seen this book off and on my social media the last couple of months but I wasn’t entirely sure about it. I mean I grew up playing The Oregon Trail game on the computer (best game ever!) and since I live in Oregon I have studies the Oregon Trail extensively and frontier culture especially for my masters. But for whatever reason this book just didn’t grab me right away when it came out. But after a few dud books I really wanted to read some thing that I was sure would catch my interest and feel different. I decided to bite the bullet and download the Audible edition as…

  • Review: The Enforcer Enigma (San Andreas Shifters #3) by Gail Carriger

Last month I had the pleasure of reading one Gail Carriger’s latest books and this month I was able to squeeze this one in. As you might recall, I love her books because her world building is so rich and detailed with so many fun characters that stand out and that I want to read about! This series has been a fun read and focuses on shifters and werewolves which normally aren’t really my fav but I love Carriger and she never disappoints!

  • Review: The Sight of You (The Sight of You #1) by Holly Miller

At first glance, I almost passed on this book. It just didn’t stand out to me as unique when I was looking at the cover. Don’t get me wrong I love the colors in the cover, but it just seemed generic and I just didn’t find it that memorable. But the summary convinced me otherwise. As soon as I read the summary I was eager to crack it open and get lost in a romantic story. I liked to idea of the two characters falling in love and one of them having prophetic dreams, that combo sounded interesting and new. So needless to say it took little convincing for me…

  • Review: Barefoot on a Starlit Night (Rendezvous Falls #3) by Jo McNally

I have never read anything by Jo McNally but I am very familiar with her name. McNally is a prolific writer of romances and I see her books often at the local bookstore and supermarkets. When this book came up for review I had no problem agreeing to it because with a name as long standing as Jo McNally, it proves she has staying power as well as a big fan base. I was fortunate enough to have an opening on my summer calendar thanks to so many books being put off for publication until fall, so this book was an easy yeas for me.
