Review: A Study in Death (Lady Darby Mystery #4) by Anna Lee Huber
After reading the third Lady Darby book, I hoped this one would return to better investigations as the third book investigation left me feeling a little on the wanting side. While it was still a four star book for me, I simply felt like I needed more out of the next book. The relationship between Gage and Kiera saved the third book for me so I was hoping this one would improve the series. While my reviews of the Lady Darby mysteries are rather spread out, that does not mean that I read them sporadically. After rapidly finishing the first Lady Darby book, I knew that I would need the next one. After reading Anne Lee Huber’s novel Secrets in the Mist, I realized how desperate I was for another Gothic romance novel. I wasn’t really up for a murder mystery but everyone raved about Huber’s Lady Darby mysteries so I thought I would try out her well known mysteries that boast Gothic elements and romance. The Anatomist’s Wife was on my radar years ago when it released and I recall trying desperately to win a copy when it was published. I have been craving a Gothic romantic suspense novel for a while, I just haven’t been able to find something more contemporary than Victoria Holt. So I rarely do anything by halves…..especially when it comes to reading! Though I tend to shy away from novellas because I always feel they are incomplete or just fluff but something compelled me to read this Lady Julia novella. Review: A Perilous Undertaking (Veronica Speedwell #2) by Deanna Raybourn
So as many of you might have noticed, I have been on a Deanna Raybourn book binge read! I first discovered Raybourn’s books a few years ago when I read Night of a Thousand Stars, which I thought was pretty good as a stand alone book. It wasn’t until last year that I rediscovered Raybourn and picked up the first Veronica Speedwell book and absolutely fell in love with the series. Needless to say, I’ve been waiting a long time for this book to come out…..I literally couldn’t wait until January for it to come out, fortunately for me I got my hands on an ARC of the next book!
