After reading Holly Jolly Cowboy on vacation, I immediately needed another cowboy book to keep me entertained so I snagged the first book on my Kindle the second I finished with the other book. This series has quickly become my guilty pleasure and I am not even a little bit sorry about it. I love small town romances and this series has made me want to move to Wyoming and buy all the cows and do all the ranch things not to mention transform my husband into a sexy cowboy.
If you are looking for some steamy holiday romances, this series has you covered. Now not every book in the series is a holiday themed book but there are enough holiday themed cowboys in this series to warm you up through the winter. If you are looking for something a little more in the way of sweet romances then move right along as this one is packing some heat.
This was a quick and easy read that I could easily have finished in one sitting but we were driving back from Mt Rainier so I had to take a little break but the second I got home guess what I stayed up reading WAY TOO LATE? You guessed right, this book right here. While note earth shattering literature, it left me feeling happy and in the Christmas spirit which makes it a winner in my opinion!
Summary
Christmas arrives early when a fateful encounter leads two strangers to unexpected love in this holiday romance from New York Times bestselling author Jessica Clare.
Christmas may be coming, but it’s just another day at the ranch as far as Eli Pickett is concerned. Someone has to take care of the herd and that means no holiday vacation for him. But that’s just the way he likes it–it’s not like he has a woman to spend time with anyways. Most women don’t want the ranch life, or the surly, silent cowboy that comes with it. Fine with him. He’d rather have the quiet of a roaring fire and the company of his dogs.
Cassandra Horn is trying to make it to her parents’ winter cabin in Wyoming before the blizzard hits. She desperately needs a vacation from the chaos of Manhattan…and her boss’s boyfriend, who is making her life miserable. But Cass never makes it to the cabin.
A raging snowstorm causes her car to crash, where she’s found unconscious by Eli. When Cass wakes, she has no memories of who she is. Eli takes one look at Cass’s big blue eyes and dark curls, and like a Christmas miracle, falls head over heels in love. But while the attraction is mutual, can she give her heart to this cowboy if she’s not sure it’s hers to give? (summary from Goodreads)
Review
The amnesia troupe is probably my least favorite and in all honesty I think I liked the Holly Jolly Cowboy installment better but this one actually featured a hero that I could fall in love with. In Holly Jolly Cowboy, Adam was so irritating even if he was sexy and brooding. In this one Eli has such a great heart and is so honorable and honest. I wanted to take care of him and give him a life he could love just like Cass wanted. I think that’s why I enjoyed this one even though the troupe wasn’t my favorite. I really felt connected to Eli in a way that I wasn’t with the hero of the other book. This book, while packing quite a bit of heat, did focus a lot more on falling in love and romance. Eli was a much more balanced hero without as much baggage as the hero of the other book.
While some of the things might have been a bit far fetched (ummm hello head injury and no one is worried really?) I still found myself falling in love with Eli and Cass as their relationship grew and evolved. I also felt so invested in their romance and was hoping that somehow things would work out for them in the end. At first I couldn’t see a way for them to be together in the long run but I loved how things wrapped up and I thought that it fit really well for the two characters.
By the time I finished this book I thought I would have had my fill of cowboy holiday romances but I actually ended up ordering all the books in the series immediately following. Though I will be reading the Christmas ones first, this is a series that I could easily binge through the month of December. I loved how well done the sex scenes were, hot, sensual, and tasteful. It felt real without being hokey or too steamy. Watching Cass and Eli come together in the bedroom felt natural and organic rather than something written just for the sex element if that makes sense. I loved their romance and found it satisfying and I am eager to read the rest of this series!
