When Samantha Downing made her debut, I knew then that she was going to be an outstanding thriller writer! I loved the book, My Lovely Wife! It was such a psychological read that I read it once when it came out and another time for my book club! I sometimes like re-reading books when they are especially good or when it’s part of a series that has a new book coming out and it’s been a while in between books—–so obviously I don’t do that often so that should be a testament to how much I enjoyed her debut novel!
Then I read her second release—I wasn’t sure if I was going to love it or not. Sometimes the second book can be a little wanting especially if the first debut novel shines bright. I was so thankful that Downing delivered on another well written mystery with her second book—which ended up being another five star review for me! Now this book is coming out and my review calendar if FULL for the month! I choose to do a feature for this one but if it’s anything like Downing’s other books—-I will be staying up late reading it in a matter of weeks once my calendar slows a bit!
If you love a solid thriller, no doubt you have heard of Downing, but if you haven’t read her books yet you absolutely need to! This latest novel promises (as the title implies!) a ‘twisted love story’! Downing DOES twisted love stories so well! I am super excited to share a bit about this book with you all today and make sure to stay tuned for a review in the next few weeks!
Summary
From the bestselling author of My Lovely Wife comes a reckless, delicious thriller about a young couple that gives a whole new meaning to the dangers of modern dating.
Wes and Ivy are madly in love. They’ve never felt anything like it. It’s the kind of romance people write stories about.
But what kind of story?
Because when it’s good, it’s great. Flowers. Grand gestures. Deep meaningful conversations where the whole world disappears.
When it’s bad, it’s really bad. Vengeful fights. Damaged property. Arrest warrants.
But their vicious cycle of catastrophic breakups and head-over-heels reconnections needs to end fast. Because suddenly, Wes and Ivy have a common enemy–and she’s a detective.
There’s something Wes and Ivy never talk about–in good times or bad. The night of their worst breakup, when one of them took things too far, and someone ended up dead.
If they can stick together, they can survive anything–even the tightening net of a police investigation.
Because one more breakup might just be their last (summary form Goodreads)
