The Lit Bitch has entered the 2012 Downton Abbey Reading Challenge (A Project Downton Post)

Challenge #6 has been entered! I know I said no more reading challenges but this one was a must do, especially with my work on Project Downton, I could not pass up the opportunity to find more great books for my list!

Here are the challenge details, the Downton Abbey Reading Challenge 2012 is being hosted by Reading Extensively who is quickly becoming one of my fav book bloggers :) .

As I have noted in my other reading challenge posts, I have a special page/section devoted to my entries which will have lists of books I plan on reading. As per usual I’ll post my reviews throughout the year and add the buttons on my sidebars.

I would also like to encourage my followers and others who are in the challenge to link up any Downton-ish books to the Project Downton page since I am compiling list of Downton inspired books!

So here is the fourth challenge sign up of 2012: the Downton Abbey Reading Challenge hosted by Reading Extensively. For more details about my entry and goals …..and for more info about Project Downton, check out the Project Downton page!

Discussion: Edwardian Era Fun Facts (A Project Downton Post)

My dad who just turned 71 discovered the internet and email about a year ago and since that discovery my email inbox has been overflowing with forwarded jokes, chain letters, and random pics…..on a daily basis.

I usually just skim through and delete most of his emails….until now! My dad FINALLY sent me an email that I found useful 🙂

My dad collects antique cars, in the last few years he has been into hot rods but when I was growing up, he had a fully restored 1911 Model T Ford that he use to show. I loved this car, that is one of the things I loved about the Edwardian era….the cars and mechanical advancements.

So I get this email from my dad all about the Edwardian Era and how much life has changed in the last 100 years…..and since I am all about Downton Abbey right now, I thought this was an interesting fun bit of info to share with my fellow Downton Abbey fans, enjoy!!! 🙂

Statistics for the year 1911 Continue reading “Discussion: Edwardian Era Fun Facts (A Project Downton Post)”

Project Downton! (A Downton Abbey Inspired Book Scavenger Hunt)

I am on a Downton Abbey scavenger hunt and I need your help!

Downton Abbey is sweeping the telly cables not to mention the hashtag is blowing up my Twitter feed….the public has gone deliriously mad for PBS’s latest masterpiece. Normally I blog strictly about books (with the rare exception of my travels), but I am totally making an exception with Downton Abbey (DA).

And here is why….today my sister sent me a link about to an article in the NY Times about DA and its growing popularity, and she was asking me if I had watched the show. Ironically I just finished watching Season I last night and am over-the-moon in love with it!

Since I have had a number of people on Twitter and fellow bloggers recommend the series, I decided to see what the fuss was all about and I instantly fell in love with it!! It doesn’t have all the sexiness as the HBO series Game of Thrones and True Blood do but it doesn’t make it any less addicting to watch. I am in love with Ana and I think Sybil might be my fav sister…though for a strange reason Mary is growing on me!! But I digress…back to the Project. Continue reading “Project Downton!
