GIVEAWAY: How to Find Love in a Book Shop by Veronica Henry

It was a four star book for me and I think it will appeal to a lot of you book lovers out there….I know it did for me!

If you’ve ever found yourself spellbound by the magic of your local bookstore, losing track of time among imaginary worlds and compelling ideas, this is your perfect summer read.

Nightingale Books is a dream come true for book lovers. Nestled on the main street of an idyllic village, it’s a cozy haven for the literary-minded locals—whose stories are just as interesting as anything on the shelves of their favorite store.

But Emilia Nightingale is struggling to keep the shop open after her beloved father’s death, and the temptation to sell is getting stronger every day. The property developers are circling, yet Emilia’s loyal customers have become like family, and she can’t imagine breaking the promise she made to her father to keep the store alive. Torn between family tradition and forging her own path, Emilia must ultimately decide if saving the bookstore will also help her save herself.

  1. Hallo, Hallo! 🙂

At long last, I can add a note to this lovely post! 🙂

I could literally disappear inside of a bookshop for hours on end, never wishing to exit and finding myself in a load of bliss simply moving from one collection of shelves to another. Even if some of those were in the NF sections – the possibilities alone in seeking out new stories, new voices and new ways of seeing our world or the worlds we’ve imagined to share with others is spellbinding!

To see a cherished haunt like this be struck down in it’s prime whilst it has a firm hold on it’s community is heart-crushing! As this oft-times happens IRL, I can well imagine the inspiration behind this particular story to be told! What caught me though – is the title and the auspiciously keen focus on what is worth saving and what is worth finding. Sometimes stories do not focus enough on those merits – of what is introspectively important to a person and the community in which they live can become the lifeblood of purpose for others. Even if perhaps in the end, the choice between the past and present is remaining true to oneself vs the traditions we try to hold onto past the point of where we ought to have let go of them in order to find our truer path. Loads of things going through my mind – it would be interesting to see where the author took the story!

This is why I love finding books which focus on booklovers, book shoppes and the hours where we are all in contemplation of life whilst living through the lives of characters set outside our own realities.
