Special Feature: Those Who Are Saved by Alexis Landau

I adore WWII era novels but the hard part is, there are so many books set during that time and honestly—all of them sound amazing! Every time I get pitched a new WWII era novel, I want to read them all! Some distinguish themselves more than others but that doesn’t mean that I didn’t review it because it wasn’t distinguished enough—-it simply means that my review calendar is full!

This book came across my desk and is out now. I wanted desperately to read it right away but I have so many other books to get through this month that I opted to share a little about this one instead and then read it later this summer. The thing that caught my eye about this one was that it was about a Russian Jewish family that immigrated to France.

Often WWII books feature Jewish families but from Poland or other Eastern European countries, but there are not really a lot of books with a Russian perspective. I thought the Russian perspective sounded intriguing and would offer a unique lens to view the war from. Add in the heart breaking choices a mother must make, has all the ingredients for a unique WWII novel! I am excited to read this one later this year but for now check out all the details and pick up a copy using my link below!

Review: The Family Ship by Sonja Yoerg

I am eternally grateful for Sonja Yoerg reaching out a few years ago asking if I wanted to review her debut novel, House Broken. I fell in love with it and knew that Yoerg was going to be one to watch! I have since read all of her books and am always excited to see when her next book is going to drop.

Her books are always well written with powerful story telling that will draw readers in. Basically it’s a no brainer when I see one of her books come up for a review—-yes! I saw the cover for this one and was instantly drawn curious about what was going to be inside to discover.

Many of Yoerg’s books focus on familial relationships (mother/daughter etc) and I love seeing the dynamics between all the characters and their respective families. This book promised to be the most complex familial relationship book yet and I couldn’t wait to dive into the characters and their family dynamics!

Special Feature: Dangerous Women by Hope Adams

This book has been on my radar for a couple of months now and I am so excited to read a book about nonconventional women! And when I say nonconventional, I mean criminals and murderers.

I adore historical thrillers and this one sounds like it’s going to be one that historical fiction fans want to have on their nightstands! Author Hope Adams has written a couple of other romance novels but this one sounds like it’s going to have a little more grit to it and I cannot wait to see how this one is received by audiences!

Having already received a lot of advanced praise, this one is high up on my TBR. If you are looking for a historical thriller featuring an exotic location and nonconventional women then this book needs to be on your radar! Keep reading for all the details and where you can pick up a copy for yourself!

Special Feature: Thunder on the Moor (Thunder on the Moor #1) by Andrea Matthews

Publication Date: October 30, 2019
Paperback & eBook; 432 pages

Historical Fiction/Scottish/Time Travel

Maggie Armstrong grew up enchanted by her father’s tales of blood feuds and border raids. In fact, she could have easily fallen for the man portrayed in one particular image in his portrait collection. Yet when her father reveals he was himself an infamous Border reiver, she finds it a bit far-fetched—to say the least—especially when he announces his plans to return to his sixteenth century Scottish home with her in tow.

Suspecting it’s just his way of getting her to accompany him on yet another archaeological dig, Maggie agrees to the expedition, only to find herself transported four hundred and fifty years into the past. Though a bit disoriented at first, she discovers her father’s world to be every bit as exciting as his stories, particularly when she’s introduced to Ian Rutherford, the charming son of a neighboring laird. However, when her uncle announces her betrothal to Ian, Maggie’s twentieth-century sensibilities are outraged. She hardly even knows the man. But a refusal of his affections could ignite a blood feud.

Maggie’s worlds are colliding. Though she’s found the family she always wanted, the sixteenth century is a dangerous place. Betrayal, treachery, and a tragic murder have her questioning whether she should remain or try to make her way back to her own time.

To make matters worse, tensions escalate when she stumbles across Bonnie Will Foster, the dashing young man in her father’s portrait collection, only to learn he is a dreaded Englishman. But could he be the hero she’s always dreamed him to be? Or will his need for revenge against Ian shatter more than her heart?
