Special Feature: The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd

Sue Monk Kidd’s books have always been poignant, interesting, and well written and her latest book promises to be all that and more.

This book takes a fictional approach to Jesus’s life as a man rather than the divine. I think this is going to be one of those books that people either fall in love with, or simply can’t believe.

Either way, Sue Monk Kidd’s skills as a writer and research are undeniable and not to be missed. I for one have this book on my TBR and you should too! I am thrilled to be able to share a little about this book with you all today! Continue reading “Special Feature: The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd”

Review: Lakeshire Park by Megan Walker

I fell head over heels in love with this cover and couldn’t wait to start reading it. The cover reminds me of a Jane Austen novel and the summary boasted a charming and sweet romance—-a tough one to resist for certain!

I picked this one up early one morning and could have easily finished it in one sitting if life hadn’t interfered! As it was, I finished it in two sittings and was scouring the internet looking for more books by this new to me author.

This was just the book that I needed to read right now and I couldn’t be more excited to review it! Continue reading “Review: Lakeshire Park by Megan Walker”

Review: The Love Story of Missy Carmichael by Beth Morrey

This book sounded like something completely different than the traditional ‘romances’ that I tend to pick up when I am looking for something different.

When I read the description, the main character is 79 years old. I was like oh, interesting….which immediately put it into the category of something different for me. Plus I loved that it said the novel was a ‘coming of old’ story. Not going to lie it made me laugh and I usually tend to pick up books that feature young heroines so reading something with a much older heroine sounded new and exciting.

Plus this debut has been getting a lot of buzz lately and I didn’t want to miss out on something new and exciting, not to mention the sweet dog cartoon on the cover basically sealed the deal. Continue reading “Review: The Love Story of Missy Carmichael by Beth Morrey”

Review: The Socialite by J’nell Ciesielski

This cover is absolutely stunning. The red dress just draws my eye right to the book and I knew before even reading the summary that this was going to be a book that I would want to read.

If you are a fan of historical fiction, then this book is likely already on your radar but if it’s not then it should be because it was a fun read!

While this book has romance at its center, there is plenty of historical details and information for fans of historical fiction to love as well. Continue reading “Review: The Socialite by J’nell Ciesielski”
