I read the first book in this series but then as sometimes happens, other book series prevented me from getting back to this one and now here we are with the third book coming out this fall! Marillier is a fine folklore storyteller and I really enjoyed the first book in this promising series and I have no doubt it has continued with her trademark lyrical prose.

As this is the last book in the trilogy, it no doubt has a lot to wrap up. Marillier writes with such lovely gentle story telling and I love how rich her world feels without feeling overly long. As this book is more geared toward the YA audience, I think this ability to tell a wonderful story without it getting overly long will really be an asset here.

This book will no doubt read like a fairytale with some more classic folklore thrown in. In that regard the book and series will feel different than some of the other traditional YA novels out there. Marillier is a tried and proved author with a number of best sellers under her belt, and that shows in this series. Her ability to create relatable characters with a strong fantasy element will win readers over. If you love fantasy but want something that feels more authentically fantasy rather than some of than other more commercial ‘fantasy’ YA series out there, then this is a great option for you!

There can be little denying that Anne Perry is a prolific storyteller and mystery writer. She has written a number of beloved mystery series and Elena Standish is just the latest series of hers which has quickly gained in popularity. I had purposely not read this series out of order. I have the first book queued up in my TBR list for October so I can devour the series in order!

I can’t believe the third book is already coming out and the cover is gorgeous not to mention the story sounds captivating. The main character’s grandfather is at the heart of a murder investigation and Elena Standish herself works for the British Intelligence as a spy. Now doesn’t that sounds like a winning combo? I cannot wait to dive into this series, I love lady spy novels and this book under Perry’s practiced hand cannot be a disappointment of that I am sure!

Its been a while since I have read a great women’s fiction novel. Don’t get me wrong I have read some amazing ones but in the last few months I haven’t picked up many women’s fiction novels as I normally do in the summer. I am a really big season reader. I like reading mysteries in the fall, romances in the winter, fantasies in the spring and women’s fiction in the summer however I changed things up a bit this year. While I might be reading out of my usual preferences during the seasons this year, that doesn’t mean that I have missed some upcoming great titles!

I haven’t read anything by Kerry Anne King, but this book caught my eye. Not only does this book address some women’s issues like marriage and life choices, but it does it with a bit of magical realism. This book has a lot to recommend itself this fall—not only does it have women’s fiction, some magical bits, but it also has some romance and suspense. It has so much for readers to enjoy and I think it’s going to be a big hit this fall!

Many early reviewers have excellent things to say about this book and I think it will resonate with a vast audience. There is a lot to identify with especially for female readers and with all the other fun bits mixed in, I think that a lot of readers will no doubt find something to enjoy in this one. Holy cover reveal! I am absolutely in love with this stunning cover! I literally cannot stop staring at this cover and I can’t believe I have to wait until May to read this book! I am still holding out hope for an ARC though because this cover literally makes me want to read this book like right now.

Not only do I love everything about this cover but the story sounds delicious and fully worth devouring! Priscilla Oliveras has written some best selling love stories with Latin flair. I am married to a Hispanic man so naturally this kind of love story appeals to me on a number of levels. I haven’t read her other novels but they are all certainly on my TBR list. And this cover reveal comes at the perfect time as it is Hispanic Heritage month!

This book will be the first in a new series by Oliveras, however it sounds like it will also be able to be read as a stand alone romance. It sounds like it’s going to be a little Romeo and Juliet with mariachi. I am so here for this novel and I can’t wait to share it with my friends and fellow book club readers! If you love contempo romance with a cultural flair and mariachi music, this novel will definitely be for you! I need this one like immediately! It just sounds so wonderful.

Review: First Comes Scandal (Rokesbys #4) by Julia Quinn

After finishing a couple of other books in this series, I was primed to wrap the series up with this final installment. Nicholas was the brother I knew the least about as he was the youngest and I don’t know that I was looking forward to this one perhaps as much as the others simply because I didn’t know enough about his character from the previous books to really be interested in him.

But as I have said before, Julia Quinn is the master at historical romances so I was happy to see what Nicholas Rokesby got up to in this one. Not to mention this one was a marriage of convenience troupe and I love the marriage of convenience troupe. That alone made me really excited to read this one. Plus this had a very ‘girl next door’ feel to it so based on these two facts alone, I looked forward to the last Rokesby brother getting his HEA.

While I might love some of Julia Quinn’s books better than others, I have never felt fully disappointed in one of her romances. Romances for me are such a great escape and I find myself reading them more and more simply because I know I am going to get a happy ending and I love watching love bloom between two unsuspecting people. Romances always deliver that happy ending and during these stressful times, I find myself turning to them more and more simply to read something happy! No one does romance like Julia Quinn and she does always deliver on the HEA.
