Leo Tolstoy said it best in Anna Karenina ‘There are as many kinds of love, as there are hearts’. I love that author Susan Schoenberger dives right into the notion in this book. The was the number one thing that compelled me about this one, it promises to dissect and explore marriages, love, and secrets. All the things that I think make for interesting reads but there was one thing that stood out above the other reasons this one sounded great.

And that is how trauma impacts women not only in the moment but in their life long choices. I think this book will leave readers with a lot to reflect on and discuss with books clubs and/or friends. I have not read anything by Susan Schoenberger before but I think this book sounds like the most promising and interesting of her novels and I am looking forward to reading this one in the future.

I am eager to share a bit about this one even if my review calendar was full for the summer, I do plan on reading this one a little later in the year. But for now I am bringing you all a bit about the book itself. I am always on the look out for books that promise emotional reading and I think this particular book will bring the emotion, so if you are on the look out for a book with some substance and emotion, I think this would be a good option for you!

Special Feature: Have We Met? by Camille Baker

This hot new release was featured last month on Amazon’s First Reads program and so many readers fell in love with Camille Baker’s writing style! This is Baker’s debut novel and it promises to be a good one sure to draw fans who enjoy women’s fiction as well as romance. I am so excited to read this one later on this summer but right now I want to share about this one and I also have a giveaway happening over on my IG where you can win a copy of this book!

This debut promises heart, romance, social relevance, as well as humor and that sounds like an incredible mash up to me! While it has a serious component (the main character loses her best friend to cancer) there is also a focus on friendships as well as some comedy to break things up and keep it light enough for readers to sit back and relax with.

If you have been looking for a novel with current relevance with a fresh voice, then this is the book for you. I know a lot of readers have loved this one and are eager for more novels by this hot new author and I am pleased to read that from other reviewers that this book set the stage for follow up books so if you read this one and enjoy it then you can rest assured that more books will be coming! Review: Incense and Sensibility (The Rajes #3) by Sonali Dev

Sonali Dev clearly has a love for Jane Austen! I have had the pleasure of reading the Rajes books that each feature their own unique Austen novel retelling. Naturally, when I saw this one coming out I jumped on it. While Persuasion is my favorite Austen novel, Sense and Sensibility boasts my favorite heroines. I love the contrast between the two Dashwood sisters and I was eager to see how that plays out in the Rajes family in this book.

Dev adds so much spice, flair, and uniqueness to her novels that will leave readers desperate for more. When I first saw that Dev was working her way through the Austen classics and writing modern Indian retellings I was skeptical. Austen books are notoriously hard to do retellings (especially modern ones). People have high expectations and often the things that make the Austen novels ‘classics’ are the same things that make it hard to do retellings.

For example, women needing to find a marriage of means, that’s not really relevant for the modern woman but it would have been during the time of Austen. But when it comes to Dev’s Austen retellings she doesn’t go all in for the typical retelling but instead leaves enough of the recognizable Austen characters and themes but adds her own unique spicy flair to the story and I am so so so here for that!

Review: Beth and Amy by Virginia Kantra

Little Women was the first time I saw myself in a book character. Jo March was me idol as a child. I especially loved the Winona Ryder film version of this classic and always felt like Jo March was so me and whenever I envision Jo March, I think of Winona Ryder. Jo March will forever be one of my favorite classic characters and one I strongly identify with where as Amy will forever be the girl who stole Laurie from her! Amy is my least favorite March sister.

I haven’t read Virginia Kantra’s modern reimagined book Meg and Jo yet but it was high up on my TBR list. When this next book on Beth and Amy came up for review, I had to jump at it even if Amy isn’t my favorite. I was eager to see a modern take on such a classic story and see how those timeless characters were portrayed in a modern setting.

For me, books like this can go either way. Classic characters in a modern setting don’t always work for some reason. I think a lot of readers have nostalgia connected to those characters and seeing them in a world that isn’t their norm, makes it hard to connect with them. But I was open to trying this one and seeing where it took me.

Susan Mallery is an excellent writer with numerous novels under her belt, I have only read a couple of her books but every time I read one I am left feeling satisfied and happy. Let’s be honest, I think we could all use a little happy right now right?! Mallery is known for her romances and stories about women and their friendships as well as their romantic entanglements. But this book promises to be a little on the different side.

Today I am thrilled to be part of a progressive excerpt tour for her latest novel out now, The Step Sisters. I think this is a super fun way to hype this book! When I downloaded my excerpt to read I was like wait, I need them all now because I am hooked on this one right now! If you love stories about sisters and the complexity of sister and sister like relationships then this is going to be one you want on your radar!

This one sounds like it’s going to be a bit of an emotional read but it sounds like it’s going to be emotional in a good sort of way and I cannot wait to continue reading it! And I do hope that you follow along on the excerpt train to check out all the wonderful goodness this book has to offer!
