Review: The Enforcer Enigma (San Andreas Shifters #3) by Gail Carriger

Last month I had the pleasure of reading one Gail Carriger’s latest books and this month I was able to squeeze this one in.

As you might recall, I love her books because her world building is so rich and detailed with so many fun characters that stand out and that I want to read about!

This series has been a fun read and focuses on shifters and werewolves which normally aren’t really my fav but I love Carriger and she never disappoints!

Summary

A werewolf without rank or hope and an enforcer who has lived too long go up against the selkie mob.

Charming urban fantasy from New York Times bestselling comedy author Gail Carriger.

ENFORCER

Judd has wandered from pack to pack his whole life, searching for wolves who will accept him for who he is and who he loves. Now he believes that he’s finally found the right pack and the right man.

NERD

Rejected by his family for being gay and geeky, Colin has never fit in with werewolves, yet now he is one. He doesn’t know how to react when Judd starts courting him. He’s even more lost when a famous singer, the selkie mob, and the feds also start chasing him.

Can Judd protect Colin and still prove his love? Can Colin figure out why enemy shifters are invading his favorite cafe? And what’s with all the gold sparkle? Find out in The Enforcer Enigma.

Delicate Sensibilities?

This paranormal romance contains M/M sexy times, horrible puns regarding country music, and men who wear suits without shirts underneath. If you get offended easily, then you probably will. The San Andreas Shifter stories include blue language, dirty deeds, and outright admiration for the San Francisco Bay Area. Not for the faint of heart (or mouth or tongue). (summary from Goodreads)

Review

As Carriger points out in the summary, this is a M/M pararomance and probably not for the faint of heart. While this might not be my normal romance genre, I have really enjoyed this series and I always feel so invested in the characters and their romances regardless of their sexual orientation or preference. So that said, I really loved these characters and their love story.

For me the hallmark of Carriger’s talents are always the sassy and snark of the dialogue and characters. This book did not disappoint in that department. I thought that Judd and Colin has great chemistry and I loved all the sass between them along with a fun story to keep things interesting. There was also a lot of steam between these sheets—-ummm pages. And I found that it was a quick read that I could easily pass a day or two enjoying.

But that said, I think I liked some of the other books in this series a little better. For me the first book in this series was better than this one. It wasn’t that this book was bad or anything, I just felt more of a connection to the other characters in previous books. Also some of the characters felt a little similar to one another if that makes sense. I liked Colin and Judd but some of the supporting characters felt too similar.

In the end I found that this was a fun, easy, steamy read from a tried and true author. I am always happy to review her books and this one was no exception. I am looking forward to many more by Carriger and can’t wait to see where this series goes from here.
