Review: The Heiress Gets a Duke (The Gilded Age Heiresses #1) by Harper St. George

Let’s start off by acknowledging the fact that this cover is simply stunning. When second I laid eyes on this cover, I knew I needed to read it. It’s gorgeous and it promises to capture the feeling of opulence in the Gilded Age. This was an easy yes to review!

I have never read anything by Harper St George before but she has written a number of romances so I was eager to see how she compared to some of the other historical romances I have been reading lately. I instantly fell in love with this one and the characters not to mention to luxurious setting!

I could easily have read this book in one sitting and in fact I almost did but then I had work the following day so I sadly had to put a bookmark in with only 10% left of the book. It was a quick romantic escape full of romance, heat, and chemistry. I loved it and am so glad that this book is the first of her new series. I am really looking forward to Violet’s story next!

Review: The Sanatorium by Sarah Pearse

Converted sanatorium urned into five star hotel—-stop right there while I clear my reading calendar! I was completely sold on this intense and atmospheric debut from the opening description. Then it was picked as a Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick and that right there was enough to get me even more excited about this novel!

It has been getting a ton of advanced praise and so much buzz on social media but when I started reading it, it was easy to see that all the buzz was absolutely worth it! I loved the atmosphere of this book and it was exactly what I was hoping that it would be, something dark, twisty, and chilling.

I normally don’t like minimalist or super cold Norwegian/Scandinavian type thrillers but this novel has so much to recommend itself and it’s not to be missed. I also included some videos about the resort and the author talking about the book as well so keep reading to check both of those out and if you are looking for your next thriller, this is it!

Special Feature: The Invisible Woman by Erika Robuck

Erika Robuck is such a wonderful historical fiction writer! She’s written a number of historical fiction works that follow different women of often famous man counter parts. For example, Hemingway’s Girl and The House of Hawthorne. I have really enjoyed her books and I am never disappointed!

Her latest book, The Invisible Woman, while different in that it doesn’t follow a women behind a famous man it is set during WWII and promises a moving story full of spies and intrigue! Not to mention it is based on a true story! I cannot wait to read this one, it has so many exciting angles and promises to be a memorable story!

I couldn’t fit it on my review calendar this month but I wanted to share all the details of this one with you guys, as it has a lot to recommend itself! I definitely have this one on my review calendar for the upcoming spring though but in the mean time check out all the info for this one and pick up a copy today as it’s out now!

I read this one back in the spring of 2020 and it was a transporting read and just what I needed to read while I was stuck at home not able to go anywhere. I really enjoyed this book, I love historical fiction but this one had little library details that, as a reader, I simply loved and it made the story all the more enchanting.

It is out now and I am so excited to re-share my original review with you all today! If you enjoy books with a duel timeline narrative and books about books and reading then this is one you need to check out!

This one has been receiving a ton of advanced praise, not to mention it’s been on numerous lists for most anticipated releases and I completely agree, this is an exciting read that historical fiction fans will love not to mention fans of books and war time lit. Special Feature and Excerpt: The Rakehell of Roth (Everleigh Sisters #2) by Amalie Howard

I have been all about the historical romances lately. Bridgerton inspired me to read more of the historical romance genre. I know that a lot of historical fiction novels have a romantic element, which I how I normally get my romance fix, but there is something unique about actual historical romances.

Typically the historical fiction novels have other plots to focus on and if romance factors in, then so much the better. But the historical romance genre focuses exclusively on the romance and HEA. That’s what I am loving lately about the historical romance genre. We all need a little HEA right now and I have been devouring all the HEA that I can find!

Today I have an excerpt for Amalie Howard’s new historical romance, The Rakehell of Roth. This one is the second installment to her Everleigh Sisters series and it promises to be breathtaking! I can’t wait to read this one in its entirety! Get all the details below and check out this little sneak peak also!
