Review: The Ancestor by Danielle Trussoni

The anticipation I had for this book was undeniable. I haven’t read anything by this author before, but I was in a Facebook group chat with her and won a copy of this book and couldn’t believe how good it sounded.

I have only recently really gotten into the horror genre, I love Gothic fiction (to me there is a big difference) but recently I have opened up to reading more and more traditional horror books and this one sounded like a perfect blend of Gothic and horror.

I was literally watching my mailbox like a hawk waiting for this one to arrive and when it finally did, I tore into it right away! Continue reading “Review: The Ancestor by Danielle Trussoni”

Review: A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder (A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder #1) by Holly Jackson

I stumbled on this book while scrolling through my Instagram feed and since I am my book club dictator—I mean book club host—I thought I would suggest this book for our June read since it sounded fun.

A slight back story here, my book club is small and we all love murder mysteries so we try to read only murder mysteries but we have all read so many murder mysteries so it’s hard to find one we haven’t all read. Since this one just came out, I thought it would be a good pick.

Fortunately everyone else thought the same thing and so it was settled—we would read this book for June. I downloaded a copy on my Kindle since it was on sale—let’s put it this way, I downloaded it late Tuesday night and I was done by Thursday night. Review: Across the Winding River by Aimie K. Runyan

I have been dying to get my hands on all of Aimie Runyan’s books since I first saw Daughter’s of the Night Sky a couple of years ago. There are always so many books and so little time—am I right?

Well this year I wasn’t going to miss out on one of her books so when I saw that she had a new one coming out, I put it on my calendar so that I wouldn’t miss out!

Reading this book was such a treat and I couldn’t be more excited to share a review if I tried! I now need all of her books and can’t wait to see what else she has up her sleeve in the future! Continue reading “Review: Across the Winding River by Aimie K. Runyan”

Review: Redemption of the Maverick Millionaire by Michelle Douglas

As many of you know, I had done a lot of reviews and features for Harlequin and their affiliate publishing houses over the last few years and I have discovered a ton of great books perfect for escaping.

This new Harlequin Romance novel came across my desk thanks to the author and while the cover seemed a little dated, I thought the story sounded fun and author Michelle Douglas has written a number of romance novels and all have been well received so saying yes to a review was easy!

As I mentioned the cover wasn’t my favorite, I think the dress of the woman could have been better….it looks kind of dated to me but that was the only negative first impression I had, the story itself sounded like it would redeem the cover! Special Feature and Excerpt: A Royal Kiss and Tell (A Royal Wedding #2) by Julia London

Julia London is a name that I instantly recognized as a well known romance writer. I haven’t read any of her books but in the numerous series that she has written, this series (A Royal Wedding) would probably be where I would start.

London has a large fan following and many people rave about her ability to write authentic feeling romances with a clear knowledge of historical periods. So I was excited to check out a little sneak peak of her up and coming release, A Royal Kiss and Tell.

Today I have that little excerpt here to share with you guys as well and I can safely say that this one sounds like a promising new romance by a talented and prolific author! Continue reading “Special Feature and Excerpt: A Royal Kiss and Tell (A Royal Wedding #2) by Julia London”
