Review: The Harp of Kings (Warrior Bards #1) by Juliet Marillier

Juliet Marillier is an author that I have had on my radar for quite some time. Her Sevenwaters series is one that I keep looking at and often debate if it’s the right time to pick it up or not…..but then I put it back down for unknown reasons.

When this one appeared one day in my mailbox I was absolutely thrilled! I normally don’t get a ton of fantasy or YA historical fantasy so I felt privileged to get this one! I was so excited and couldn’t wait to crack it open!

Now that I am finished with this new series, I am absolutely committed to reading her other books come hell or high water! Continue reading “Review: The Harp of Kings (Warrior Bards #1) by Juliet Marillier”

Except: BURSTS OF FIRE (Addicted to Heaven #1) by Susan Forest

I am thrilled to be able to give you guys a sneak peak of this book today! It’s been out since early August and has been receiving lots of great reviews.

I haven’t had the pleasure of reading it yet, but this little snippet sounds wonderful! If you like  epic fantasy then you will defiantly want to check this one out.

While this is more in the YA genre, I think it would be a book that adults would love as well! Not only does it have magic and other fantasy elements, but it sounds like it’s going to tackle some big issues too much as addiction and mental illness so I think that it’s content will appeal to a wide audience. Review: The Doll Factory by Elizabeth Macneal

To say that I was exited to get this book in the mail is an absolute understatement. I actually squealed in excitement when I opened this book up!

The cover is magical and haunting and the summary sounded like something I was absolutely going to sink my teeth into immediately! Victorian England, creepy stalkers, and all sorts of disturbing gothic devices were promised in the summary.

I could hardly contain my excitement. I was ecstatic to read this one and cracked it open almost immediately and what awaited me in the pages was a dark and disturbing story in addition to creepy dolls. Continue reading “Review: The Doll Factory by Elizabeth Macneal”

Special Feature: THE PASSENGERS by John Marrs

As many of you know, I don’t read a ton of sci-fi or speculative fiction but when one catches my eye, I’m always excited to share with my readers even if it’s a genre that I don’t read a ton of.

I know sci-fi and speculative fiction both have a huge fan base so odds are some of my readers are fans. This one caught my eye because it sounds like it’s going to be a mix of sci fi, speculative fiction and thriller genres and I am eager to share all the details of this upcoming book!

This book has been getting a lot of notice on Goodreads as well as a number of rave reviews! The plot line is being praised as being innovative and full of twists and turns. The genre blending is enough to make me intrigued but all the praise has piqued my interest to say the least. Continue reading “Special Feature: THE PASSENGERS by John Marrs”

Review: Someone We Know by Shari Lapena

Shari Lapena has a big big big fan base and she has written a number of best sellers. Prior to this book, I had only read one of her books and thought it was pretty good.

I was totally open to reading more and when this one came up for review I was excited to check it out and see how her writing held up for me a second time around.

One of the things that caught my eye about this one was the neighborhood gossip mill aspect. Neighborhood was strongly featured in the summary and I was eager to see how that played out in the story. Often so much is focused on the inner working of a home when it comes to domestic thrillers, without much emphasis being placed on the neighborhood so I was exceptionally curious about this one.
