Review: Crashing the A-List by Summer Heacock

Last spring, I was completely obsessed with the royal wedding and as a result looked for a number of books on the royals and a-listers.

Sadly I didn’t get to read as many as I wanted but I adore modern fairy tale type books with a basically unknown female meeting a huge star or royal, and having it turn into a romance.

So when this book came across my desk many months later, I was so excited to read something kind of in that same vein. I thought this one sounded like a feel good, romance which was just what I needed to read! Though it doesn’t feature the royals, it does feature broke girl meets uber rich British film star so basically close enough for my taste! Review: Last Summer by Kerry Lonsdale

This was a book that I completely forgot about. I honesty couldn’t remember how it ended up on my review calendar but some how it did.

But as I went combing back through my emails to find out how this book ended up on my calendar, it started coming back to me. My March self said yes to this one and now here I was, my July self, and I wasn’t even sure I was in the mood to read this book.

Not to mention that I’ve been reading a TON of women’s fiction lately, I almost felt like I needed a break from women’s fiction but as I said, I agreed to review this book and I started seeing a few other bloggers reading this one and I started to remember why my March self said yes to this one! Special Feature: THE SUMMER GUESTS by Mary Alice Monroe

Summer reading is in full swing and I can’t tell you how many good books have popped up on my radar these last couple of months! I love seeing all the bright, springy covers and this one is one of my favorites!

That cover looks like it fell right out of a Martha Stewart magazine and I absolutely love it and it screams ‘summer time’ to me.

Mary Alice Monroe is a new to me author, but she has written a number of women’s fiction novels with the majority being summer time focused. This book has had a ton of advanced praise and is out now, so I wanted to make sure it was on your radar before everyone heads off on vacation, because this is a book you don’t want to leave behind in your beach bag! Review: The Favorite Daughter by Patti Callahan Henry

I recently read Becoming Mrs Lewis by Patti Callahan (Henry) and I fell in love with that book and was eager to read some of her more contemporary books.

I had been pitched her book, The Bookshop at Water’s End, back in 2017 and passed at the time and now I am so sad that I did because I would have discovered this author long before now!

At any rate, I was thrilled to read this book when it came out and was looking forward to reading some of her contemporary fiction to see how it compared to her historical work. I knew that each book would be vastly different as they are different genres, but she’s an excellent writer and I know that good writing is good writing, and regardless of genre, that’s what stands out in a good book.
