Special Feature and Excerpt: Summer at the Cape by RaeAnne Thayne

RaeAnne Thayne has been a long time favorite author of mine. Admittedly I do like her holiday books the best but I have also read and enjoyed her non-Christmas books and found them heartwarming and always what I need to get me through those long rainy April days that we have here in Oregon. Thayne has written a number of books and also has a large fan base, whenever I see one of her books I instantly know I am getting a quality feel good read. I haven’t read a Thayne book I didn’t like so I feel fully confident saying I am sure this one is going to be another solid HEA book for spring!

I am taking this book with me to read on the plane when I leave for Salt Lake City a little later this month so I will have to report back on how I liked it but for now I have an excerpt for all of you guys to check out today! In this latest book, is a story about sisters and tragedy and over coming some of those strained sibling relationship and learning to start new. Plus there might be a little romance in this one as a little bonus—though most of Thayne’s books have a romantic element, this book promises a lot of big drama topics with a splash of romance.

If you are looking for a lovely beach read set in California with some depth to it (grief and loss) that will warm your heart and leave you feeling content and charmed then this might be the book for you. Keep reading to check out this fun excerpt. It’s out now and definitely not to be missed so get your order in and don’t miss another great RaeAnne Thayne book!

Special Feature: Business Not as Usual by Sharon C. Cooper

Who doesn’t love a good romantic comedy?! I for one have a hard time turning down any kind of romantic comedy for my TBR shelf. I especially enjoy reading work place romantic comedies. At some point in your professional career I am sure you have had to remind yourself that work place romances are typically off limits but that doesn’t stop many people from entering them anyway. So why not write an entertaining story about one?

This book made me take notice with the summary tag line about mixing business with pleasure. I immediately wanted to know more and maybe live a little vicariously through the main character. I have this one coming up for review later this spring but for now I am brining you guys little taste of what is sure to be a fun read this spring for all you romance fans. And it’s a BIPOC author so I am even more excited to be sharing about this book with you guys today!

If the description of the leading man in this book doesn’t make you buy this book then I don’t know what else will: the social grace of the Duke of Sussex and the suaveness of Idris Elba. Say no more I am already sold! It also sounds like it has the hints of a Cinderella styler story with the main character, Dreamy who is a hard working lady without a lot of money or options but to finish her degree and make her way in the world. Enter billionaire Karter. These two characters are from two different background and I cannot wait to see how that impacts that story! Be sure to check this one out, it’s out now and you don’t want miss it!

Review: On A Night Like This by Lindsey Kelk

Raise your hand if Cinderella was your favorite Disney princess growing up! Personally I loved Sleeping Beauty but Cinderella was certainly a close second. I loved the idea of a commoner marrying a prince and finding love with someone completely unexpected and outside of her social rank and standing.

As I have moved into adulthood, I have gravitated toward romance novels that feature this classic troupe. Rich lord meets commoner and marries her anyway, even if it feels unlikely it always seems to draw me in. Over the years my favorite group of Cinderella romance has been replaced with enemies to lovers troupes but there is still a soft spot in my heart when it comes to Cinderella stories.

That was why this book grabbed my attention, I loved the modern take on a Cinderella story with Fran being this basic assistant assigned to work as a celebrity PA at a high profile ball where she meets handsome rich guy completely different worlds from her own and falls in love one night. How much more Cinderella-ish can it get in this description? I immediately decided to give it a go!

Review: If You Ask Me by Libby Hubscher

I don’t know what drew me to this book first, the hot fireman or the protagonist having a massive public meltdown! It’s like my dream some times to just have a complete meltdown where I give zero f*cks and just go off and still be able to keep my job and relationship but yet I have something to laugh about later. Am I right people? Basically I wish my life was a movie or a story some times where I could get away with that. Like go full on Waiting to Exhale and burn my ex’s stuff and still find love—that’s exactly what this book promises—literally!

I was instantly drawn to this one for that very reason. I felt like I could live vicariously through Violet’s life and get a few laughs. I had this one on my radar very early on. I couldn’t wait to check it out and read a fun little romantic comedy. This one sounded like a fun little rom com and that it would be just what I needed going into the early spring.

The cover promises such a cute little story and that alone made it seem like it was going to be a great romantic comedy with a neat little HEA in the works. What I was not prepared for was how much this book would get me in the feels! I wasn’t prepared for the more serious content in this one. Sure it had it’s romantic parts and it’s own little HEA but there was a lot of emotion in this one too. So if you are looking for romantic fluff this one isn’t that, it has more substance to it than I originally anticipated.

Special Feature: A Brush with Love by Mazey Eddings

I think most of us can agree that going to the dentist does not top anyones list of favorite things to do! I hate going to the dentist but I might be more inclined to go if it involved a swoon worthy dentist! When I saw this one come up for review I was intrigued by the idea of a dental romance. When I think dentist I don’t immediately think romance, but when I hear hospital/ER I DO think romance so I was excited to see how this one would play out! One can find hospital romances (books and shows) in abundance but I literally cannot think of a single work place romance that involves a dentist and root canals! This is seriously the thing that stood out above all else when I saw this book come across my desk for review!

When this book came across my desk, the setting and premise was what really hooked me and wanted to make me read it. Sadly I couldn’t fit it into my review schedule for spring but there is so much in the summary that makes me really want to read it! I have also been seeing some amazing reviews about it! One of the reviews I saw noted how well developed the main character was, along with some serious chemistry between the main characters! I am always on the hunt for interesting characters and hot romances, but this one really stood out as the ‘random dental romance’ for me. The setting intrigued me that much! I am so excited to see how the setting plays into this one along with the sizzling chemistry and fun characters!

It appears that this book is the beginning of a potential series and the author, Mazey Eddings, has one other romance under her belt that I am not sure if part of this particular potential series, but it does show that she is an established writer with a firm fan base so I have high expectations for this particular book! If you love a good romance and one that promises an interesting setting and enough sweetness for a cavity, then I think this book will be for you!
