To say that I adore Kristy Woodson Harvey is the biggest understatement of the year! I basically fan girl her so hard, I love her Peachtree Bluff series and was so sad when it came to an inevitable end—–or so I thought. I was over the moon when I saw we were getting a Christmas book to follow up to the Peachtree Bluff series!

I cannot wait to start this book next month. I don’t really do much holiday reading until November after all the spooky books, and I am so looking forward to this book being my first big holiday book next month! So be watching for my review soon. If you love feel good contempo lit with heart, charm, and strong character building then do not miss this series and seriously—it’s a holiday book DO NOT pass on this one!

I love that we are going to catch up with some favorite characters of the series and see how things are going back at Peachtree Bluff. I loved so many of her characters in this series so seeing them again is going to be so great. If you are looking for holiday reads this should be at the top of your list even if you haven’t read the other books in the series, I think this could read as a standalone and be fine. I cannot wait to share my thoughts on this one and you should get it now since it’s out and get ready for the holiday season now!

Something about a book set in Paris just makes it all the more romantic and interesting for me. I have been to France twice and while it hasn’t been may favorite city in Europe, there is no doubt it has a distinct romantic feel to it and the food—oh the food! While I am far from a foodie, there is no doubt Paris is home to some delicious pastries and savory dishes.

One of the things that interested me in this book was not just the setting but that the main character, Sophie, is a chef who loses her sense of small. At first glance I thought it was metaphorical but in reading the description further it was clear that it was literal. I thought that sounded intriguing and would be an interesting take on a classic French foodie story. The more I kept reading the summary though the more interesting it sounded. While this book looks like it’s part of a series, many have said it can be read independently as a stand-alone.

I love character driven books with the main character in a personal crisis on a journey to not only find themselves but to also resolve their personal crisis. This book sounds like it’s going to fit the bill and I am so thrilled to share a bit with you guys today! If you love women’s fiction with an exotic setting and no doubt some amazing food references, then this will be a great option for you. Special Feature: Other People’s Things by Kerry Anne King

Its been a while since I have read a great women’s fiction novel. Don’t get me wrong I have read some amazing ones but in the last few months I haven’t picked up many women’s fiction novels as I normally do in the summer. I am a really big season reader. I like reading mysteries in the fall, romances in the winter, fantasies in the spring and women’s fiction in the summer however I changed things up a bit this year. While I might be reading out of my usual preferences during the seasons this year, that doesn’t mean that I have missed some upcoming great titles!

I haven’t read anything by Kerry Anne King, but this book caught my eye. Not only does this book address some women’s issues like marriage and life choices, but it does it with a bit of magical realism. This book has a lot to recommend itself this fall—not only does it have women’s fiction, some magical bits, but it also has some romance and suspense. It has so much for readers to enjoy and I think it’s going to be a big hit this fall!

Many early reviewers have excellent things to say about this book and I think it will resonate with a vast audience. There is a lot to identify with especially for female readers and with all the other fun bits mixed in, I think that a lot of readers will no doubt find something to enjoy in this one. I might be from Oregon, but I lived in Arizona for 10 years and I absolutely love the desert. I hate that more books aren’t set in Phoenix. This summer I was going to spend a month in Phoenix and I was really excited to read a book set in Phoenix that was also a romance! Needless to say I times my review for this book with my trip, I couldn’t wait to read this one.

I have read one of McKinlay’s books prior to this and I thought it was good so going into this desert setting book, I was hopeful that I would enjoy it and escape but also find a book that would capture the beauty and desert culture. The desert can be such a romantic place and I was super excited to see how the setting played into this one.

Reading this book went fairly quick. I picked it up and finished it on a matter of a couple of days and I liked it just fine but I don’t know that I loved it. I liked the enemies to lovers troupe but I just don’t know that it was as impactful as I was hoping it would be. But it was a nice quick read that left me feeling content and happy I read it but I would have liked to have something with a bit more something.

Review: It Takes Heart (Heart Resort #1) by Tif Marcelo

This author has grown on me over the years. When I picked up one of her books I wasn’t sure what to expect but then I was completely lost in her stories and couldn’t wait to read more from her! One thing I noticed though was Marcelo writes a variety of stories. Not just women’s fiction but romance too. I was super excited to read this latest novel that was more contempo romance than women’s fiction.

Second chance romance isn’t really my favorite troupe but I was excited to see what Marcelo did with it in this book. One of the things that I also love about Marcelo’s writing is she incorporates her culture into the lives of the characters. Marcelo is Pilipino and many of her characters are also Pilipino and I just love how much interest that adds to the stories.

I am also excited to see this is part of a new series. I loved the setting and I am excited to see that we will get to return here and get to know more about the family perhaps in future books. If you are looking for a more contempo romance that has heart and culture then I think this will be a great read for you this summer! I know I enjoyed it!
