Special Feature: M.L. Longworth featured on NPR’s Crime in the City

When the seasons start to change from summer to fall….I find myself instinctively drawn to reading a good murder mystery.

For me, fall means curling up by the fire with a pumpkin spice latte and reading a good who-dunnit!

I was recently approached by Penguin to review M.L. Longworth’s latest novel Murder on the Île Sordou (Verlaque and Bonnet #4) and let me just say that this book is satisfying my urge to read a good mystery!

I should finish it up tonight, I started reading it this weekend and haven’t put it down since!

My review will be up later this month but in the mean time…..M.L. Longworth was recently featured on NPR’s Crime in the City series (“Mystery Writer Weaves Intricate Puzzles in Sleepy French Town”), in a wonderful introduction to the author, the Verlaque & Bonnet series, and Aix-en-Provence.

This is a wonderful article that I highly encourage you to read!

I can’t wait to read the other books in the series as I am starting in the middle, however you don’t need to read the other books to appreciate this wonderful mystery series set throughout French countryside!

Special Feature: Harbor Island (Sharpe & Donovan #4) by Carla Neggers

I recently reviewed one of Carla Neggers’s Sharpe & Donovan novel, Declan’s Cross and though I didn’t read some of the other novels in the series, it was an interesting plot with with history, romance, and suspense.

I am looking forward to the novel book in the series, Harbor Island.

In this book, Emma Sharpe finds herself on a wild ride which takes her from Boston, to Ireland, and back across the pond to Maine.

I am thrilled to be able to post this except from this thrilling novel! Please enjoy the excerpt and be sure to add it to your TBR list today!

Special Feature: CASCADE by Maryanne O’Hara picked as book of the month

Here is a special feature for my follower on the east coast, especially in the Boston area!

Last year I read and reviewed CASCADE by Maryanne O’Hara and absolutely loved it! I was thrilled to learn that it was selected as the book of the month for The Globe’s Book Club!

Back in June, The Pulitzer-Prize winning Boston Globe announced that it has launched the Globe Book Club, a community forum that will enable book lovers across New England to read a novel together and dig into the book’s theme and origin story, through curated conversations online and at events.

The first title, chosen in a public BostonGlobe.com poll, is ‘Cascade’ by Massachusetts author Maryanne O’Hara.

Review: One Plus One by Jojo Moyes

I’ve been a fan of Jojo Moyes since I read Me Before You last year. Since then I’ve read two more of her novels, The Girl You Left Behind and Silver Bay.

I love her storytelling style and her romances are usually unique, touching, and compelling. However, the last novel I read by her, Silver Bay, lacked some of her usual magic so needless to say I was hesitant to review One Plus One.

The reviews I had seen online though made me decide to read One Plus One, in hopes of recapturing some of the magic from Moyes earlier novels. I was glad that I decided to give this one a shot.

This novel is a numbers game! Jess Thomas is a single mom with two kids and two jobs. Her kids are a little on the different side. The daughter, Tanzie, is a mathematical genius and her eyeliner wearing son Nicky struggles to fit in.

Review: Silver Bay by JoJo Moyes

Liza McCullen lives in the small community of Silver Bay with it’s pristine beaches and secluded lifestyle, she feels completely at ease and safe in her life.

Liza and her family run a small hotel there that features small exhibitions to see dolphins, whales, and all the beautiful sea creatures of the Australian coast.

Running the whale watching tour is something extremely important to Liza, but not as important to her as raising her daughter Hannah.

All of the women in Liza’s family have secrets…but none so big as Liza.

Though she is the strong one in her little family, deep down she is as fragile as the delicate marine life she loves so much…with a big secret.
