Review: Book Lovers by Emily Henry

Emily Henry earned a spot on my auto buy author list after Beach Read! I absolutely fell in love with her! She is charing witty and her story telling style is second to none. I love how her rom-com characters interact and have so much chemistry together. People We Meet on Vacation was equally as charming a follow up to Beach Read and absolutely put me in the mood to travel! ‘

When I saw this book was coming out—one I needed NO convincing to read this not with a title like Book Lovers! For me personally I love an enemies to lovers trope over the friends to lovers troupe which is why I liked Beach Read a little better than People We Meet on Vacation. I personally felt like the chemistry and tension was better in Beach Read and that is generally the case for me when I pick up an enemies to lovers troupe. So when I saw that this latest novel featured an enemies to lovers plot I was all for it!

This book has me written all over it. I was absolutely primed to fall in love with this book before even picking it up. Emily Henry is simply a fantastic writer and I cannot say enough good things about this latest book! I knew I would enjoy this one but I was not fully prepared for just HOW much I was going to love it. If you don’t read anything else this spring—read this one!

Special Feature: Business Not as Usual by Sharon C. Cooper

Who doesn’t love a good romantic comedy?! I for one have a hard time turning down any kind of romantic comedy for my TBR shelf. I especially enjoy reading work place romantic comedies. At some point in your professional career I am sure you have had to remind yourself that work place romances are typically off limits but that doesn’t stop many people from entering them anyway. So why not write an entertaining story about one?

This book made me take notice with the summary tag line about mixing business with pleasure. I immediately wanted to know more and maybe live a little vicariously through the main character. I have this one coming up for review later this spring but for now I am brining you guys little taste of what is sure to be a fun read this spring for all you romance fans. And it’s a BIPOC author so I am even more excited to be sharing about this book with you guys today!

If the description of the leading man in this book doesn’t make you buy this book then I don’t know what else will: the social grace of the Duke of Sussex and the suaveness of Idris Elba. Say no more I am already sold! It also sounds like it has the hints of a Cinderella styler story with the main character, Dreamy who is a hard working lady without a lot of money or options but to finish her degree and make her way in the world. Enter billionaire Karter. These two characters are from two different background and I cannot wait to see how that impacts that story! Be sure to check this one out, it’s out now and you don’t want miss it!

Review: On A Night Like This by Lindsey Kelk

Raise your hand if Cinderella was your favorite Disney princess growing up! Personally I loved Sleeping Beauty but Cinderella was certainly a close second. I loved the idea of a commoner marrying a prince and finding love with someone completely unexpected and outside of her social rank and standing.

As I have moved into adulthood, I have gravitated toward romance novels that feature this classic troupe. Rich lord meets commoner and marries her anyway, even if it feels unlikely it always seems to draw me in. Over the years my favorite group of Cinderella romance has been replaced with enemies to lovers troupes but there is still a soft spot in my heart when it comes to Cinderella stories.

That was why this book grabbed my attention, I loved the modern take on a Cinderella story with Fran being this basic assistant assigned to work as a celebrity PA at a high profile ball where she meets handsome rich guy completely different worlds from her own and falls in love one night. How much more Cinderella-ish can it get in this description? I immediately decided to give it a go!

The second I saw this blue green water, I knew I needed this book in my beach bag! It’s that time of year when it’s cold and rainy still in the Pac NW and I find myself longing for some where warm and sunny with white sandy beaches. Review: The Summer Getaway by Susan Mallery

It’s that time of year when we have had the ‘false spring’ week in Oregon and have then settled into 6 more weeks of winter. We had this absolutely beautiful week where it was sunny and 60-65 degrees—spring was in the air—until it wasn’t. Suddenly we were back to 40 degree temps with constant rain (like torrential down pour) and like many Oregonians we are all left longing for sunshine and warmer temps! So what is a surefire way to cure the longing in our hearts? A book set in a sunny location that offers a little bit of escapism and a whole lot of sunshine!

Enter this lovely new release from Susan Mallery! I love early spring releases. It’s when I am DYING to read them the absolute most because of the long rainy season here. I literally load up my iPad and TBR list with all the great new summer, beach-y reads in early February that carries me through to the end of April until spring actually arrives here!

Susan Mallery has been a favorite author of mine as she has written numerous series and books over the years and has a massive fan base! I have read a couple of her holiday themed books and have enjoyed them quite a bit so when this one came up for review, I couldn’t help but move it to the top of my beach reading TBR list for early spring!
