This is a series that I am so glad I decided to try again. When I read the first book, I couldn’t even finish it. I struggled to get into the series and the first book. I DNF about 20% of the way through and felt incredibly sad about it because by all accounts this was a series that I should have loved.
I kept seeing the books coming out and so many people raving about them that I kept wondering if I just was missing something and maybe needed to give it another go. But I held off because it’s hard to change my mind once I hav DNF a book.
But eventually I picked up one of the third book in the series and thought it was better than I remembered and then I picked up the fourth book and was once again pleasantly surprised so when this one came up for review I decided to go for it.

Is there really any debate about Agatha Christie being the queen of mysteries? I have only read a couple of her books and have enjoyed them very much but there is also a dated quality about them which was one of the reasons that I was excited to read this ‘New Hercule Poirot’ mystery from Sophie Hannah.
If ever there was a modern queen of mystery, it would surely be Anne Perry. Not only is she a best selling novelist, she also spent time in jail for participating in a murder when she was a teenager.
My book club pick for August was The Whisper Man and I was so excited for it because I have had the book from my Book of the Month box for over a year.
How is it that we are already on the 6th book in this series? It feels like I just started reading it a few months ago….but I haven’t. I read the very first book before it came out and fell in love with this series.
