Special Feature: The Guilty Die Twice by Don Hartshorn

If there is one show I can binge watch for days it’s Law and Order. Sure the crime parts and police work are always exciting but for me it’s the order side of things that always get me.

Court room dramas are captivating for me. I was a pre law major when I started college and growing up it was my dream to become a lawyer and I would have had I not found something else that I loved just as much.

But I still get that courtroom itch from time to time and when I do I try to do the next best thing and read a courtroom drama or thriller. This book sounded very interesting and I am thrilled to share a bit more about it with you guys today. Continue reading “Special Feature: The Guilty Die Twice by Don Hartshorn”

Special Feature and Excerpt: The Night Swim by Megan Goldin

Few genres offer as page turning excitement like thrillers. Sure I love a good romance, but when it comes to a quick engrossing read that is sure to entertain me, I almost always go fr a thriller

This book sounds so promising and this excerpt peaked my interest and I can’t wait to continue reading this one once I get through a few other books. I love thrillers and have recently started picking them up more and more during this strange time.

Special Feature: Little Disasters by Sarah Vaughan

This book is one that I am so excited to share with you all on a personal level. Not only does it sound like it’s going to tackle some big issues that women face but the author’s own personal story about how she came to write this book is so memorable!

You will have to keep reading to see what I mean about the author’s own story down in an article that I included from Publisher’s Weekly. The article is outstanding and really captures the excitement of this novel. She sounds like she has been through so much and that it was important for her to get the details of this book right and I can’t help but be intrigued by that dedication and her story!

This book sounds like it’s going to be a thriller that taps into mom life. Women face such interesting challenges in the professional world as well as the domestic world and it’s always an interesting topic to explore which is why I am really looking forward to this one. Keep reading to get all the details! Continue reading “Special Feature: Little Disasters by Sarah Vaughan”

Special Feature: Little Falls by Elizabeth Lewes

I love mystery novels and whodunnits and so much the better if its a fast paced thriller. This debut mystery novel from Elizabeth Lewes has a ton to recommend itself.

One of the things that really jumped out at me was the setting. I live in the Pac NW (Oregon) and this book is set in Eastern Washington—so basically neighbors. I love books (especially mystery thrillers) that are set in small rural towns.

Small town America is often praised as the idyllic so having a murder mystery set there really takes that traditional troupe and spins it on its head. This one has also received a lot of advanced praise from Publisher’s Weekly  as an ‘outstanding debut’ so I am really looking forward to checking it out soon! Special Feature: Behind the Red Door by Megan Collins

I used to read a ton of thrillers when I was younger. The Kay Scarpetta novels got me hooked on reading again as a teen/young adult and once I devoured them, I moved on to some true crime as well as a number of other thriller/mysteries.

But then I kind of stopped reading them in favor of historical fiction. But over the last couple of years I have started to pick one up here and there. Now I am part of a murder book club and we are always looking for new and twisty murder mysteries to read.

This is one of those books that jumped out at me from my desk when it came up for review. Maybe it was the bright red cover or maybe it was the author but either way this book is a big contender for our September book pick. I am thrilled to be sharing all the info with you guys today. It’s getting a ton of advanced praise and I am looking forward to reading it soon, hopefully for our book club! Continue reading “Special Feature: Behind the Red Door by Megan Collins”
