Review: American Princess: A Novel of First Daughter Alice Roosevelt by Stephanie Thornton

I have read all of Stephanie Thornton’s books. She’s a wonderful writer that singles out strong female characters in history and writes their stories. I love her novels and was so excited to see that she was coming out with a new book.

If I am being 100% honest here, I was a little on the fence about reading this one. Thornton has written about Empress Theodora, the wives of Genghis Kahn, Hatshepsut and even Alexander the Great’s wife. These are strong women in the ancient world, so when I saw that she was writing a book about Alice Roosevelt I felt a little disappointed.

I was hoping for a novel on Boudicca or something, but instead it was sounding like she was going to abandon the ancient world and move into something more mainstream like a President’s daughter. But I have faith in her writing and storytelling so while I was worried she would be abandoning the ancient world, I was also excited to see how this novel would be different than her others. Review: A Dangerous Collaboration (Veronica Speedwell #4) by Deanna Raybourn

This was a series that I perpetually have no pre order. I was sold on it even before it came out. I saw the cover in 2015 and immediately knew I needed this book so I pre ordered a copy. I fell in love with Veronica Speedwell the moment I started reading.

She was refreshing, unconventional, over the top, and just so sassy. I loved the chemistry between her and her leading man, Stoker. Since the inception of this series, I have been first in line with the next installment comes out.

The last book left me feeling a little wanting in the relationship department though, so I was extra eager to get my hands on this book to see if Veronica and Stoker finally finally finally, admit that they are clearly made for each other. Review: More Than Words by Jill Santopolo

Jill Santopolo was an author that I wanted to read long before this book! I received an ARC of her THE LIGHT WE LOST a couple years ago and I just couldn’t fit it into my review schedule.

I still continue to eye THE LIGHT WE LOST whenever I am looking for something to read. It sounds like such a beautiful story, but for some reason, it just never makes its way onto my nightstand.

Then MORE THAN WORDS came up for review and I wasn’t about to let this opportunity pass me by a second time. I have heard people rave about her books so I was excited to start this one. Not to mention the cover is elegant and interesting so that was an added bonus. Continue reading “Review: More Than Words by Jill Santopolo”

Review: I Invited Her In by Adele Parks

I immediately recognized the name Adele Parks when the book came across my desk for review. I haven’t read any of her books, but it was a name that I had seen before. I had meant to pick up one of her books long before this, but for some reason I just never did.

I decided to remedy that and read her latest thriller, I INVITED HER IN. I liked that this book was not only a thriller, but one that featured two female best friends but late in their friendship.

It didn’t sound like it was going to be one of those ‘I just met this girl and we are friends but she turns out to be crazy’ books. This plot sounded a lot more in-depth and multifaceted than that traditional troupe. Continue reading “Review: I Invited Her In by Adele Parks”

Review: Woman 99 by Greer Macallister

This book’s description immediately resonated with me. I love all things turn of the century, plus I also love reading about early science and medicine.

One day, one of my fellow book blogger friend and I were discussing how much we wanted to read this book. In the end she emailed the publicist for this book and shamelessly begged for an ARC for the both of us.

Which we were so happy to receive! This book was high on my list of TBR and I was eager to get to reading. As soon as it arrived I set aside all my other books just so I could start this one first. Not only if the cover gorgeous and intriguing, but the plot was one that I couldn’t get out of my head no matter how hard I tried. Continue reading “Review: Woman 99 by Greer Macallister”
