Sonja Yoerg is another author that I have been a long time fan of, though I have to admit I was a little worried about this one. Yoerg usually writes more women’s fiction, but this one was marketed as more of a thriller.

But I did keep an open mind. I hate how some authors get pigeon holed into writing a certain genre, just because an author is known for writing women’s fiction doesn’t mean she can’t write anything else right?

While Yoerg might be known for a certain genre, I would argue that she should be known for her ability to write complex characters that truly stand out rather than a particular genre—so I took the plunge and started reading this one. There is just something about a cozy foodie mystery that provides so much comfort and escapism. I mean not only am I solving a murder mystery but I am also getting to do it while dreaming of my favorite treats! It’s a great combo for me.

This series, The Cookie House Mystery series, is new to me it sounds like it’s a fun way to pass the time. I also think the covers are adorable and that sweet dog on this cover just stole my heart!

While this is the second book in the series, it sounds like it could also be read as a standalone so if you are looking for a little escape featuring food then you might want to give this one a go!

Summary

Kate McGuire has a lot on her dessert plate. Harvey has such a great writing style that is refreshing, charming, and heartfelt so I knew that whatever she had up her sleeve was going to be outstanding.

This cover is all kinds of eye catching and exotic. I mean who isn’t dreaming of a tropical, exotic get away right now?! I for one sure am and this cover looks so inviting. All I need is a pina colada in hand to make this perfect!

I love that this book is set on a little island in Key West with all the flavors and vibes of the Caribbean and Cuba, not to mention the summary sounds fantastic and the perfect kind of escape.
