Say hello to my longest read of the year. Not necessarily the longest book in terms of pages, but rather in terms of how long it took me to actually read this one!
I started this one at the beginning of July people and here it is September and I am just now finishing it! In fact I finished it last week and to be honest that shocked me.
I fully expected to finish this book in only a few sittings and sadly I just didn’t But there are a couple of reasons for that—I had a lot of other books going and this one wasn’t a partner review so it was more of a ‘when I get to it’ type book. That and I started a new job and just generally got waylaid when it came to reading this one. Continue reading “Review: A Heart of Blood and Ashes (A Gathering of Dragons #1) by Milla Vane”

While I might be gearing up for all my favorite fall reads, which usually include a ton of mysteries and thrillers rather than romances, ever once in a while a romance catches my eye.
If ever there was a modern queen of mystery, it would surely be Anne Perry. Not only is she a best selling novelist, she also spent time in jail for participating in a murder when she was a teenager.
If you are an American History fan then this book is one that you might want on your radar. As a Civil War Era historian, this book caught my eye as it focuses quite a bit on Reconstruction.
This book popped up on my radar in the early summer and I have been looking forward to it ever since. Like many, I love all things royal and Queen Elizabeth has been such a mysterious figure for me. I can’t imagine what it must have been like for her growing up not expecting to be queen only to have the position basically thrust upon her.
