Special Feature and Excerpt: The Last Story of Mina Lee by Nancy Jooyoun Kim

Right from the start, I really liked the sound of this novel. An unconventional mother daughter story just sounds refreshing and interesting to me.

Special Feature: Louisiana Lucky by Julie Pennell

Have you ever fantasized about what it would be like to win the lottery? Let’s be real, we all have thought about it at one point or another especially when we see those huge Powerball numbers. Honestly what would someone do wit 500 million dollars? It’s a number the boggles the mind.

Well this book explores just that thought. Three sisters win the lottery and each sister uses those winnings in different ways and making what they think are all their dreams come true.

I love that this book sounds like it’s also going to explore the dark side of winning the lottery. It’s easy to imagine what life would be like winning the lottery but the reality I am sure is far from idillic. More money more problems or so the saying goes. Today I have this book up for special feature and I can’t wait to read it and I hope you will enjoy it as well! Continue reading “Special Feature: Louisiana Lucky by Julie Pennell”

Review: A Little Bit of Grace by Phoebe Fox

I had no idea what this book was going to be about. I mean sure it had a summary of course, but in the sea of women’s fiction, many of the summaries as well as the covers tend to blend together.

That’s what was happening for me with this book. The cover was cute but didn’t really stand out for me, the title also cute but didn’t grab me, and the summary sounded nice but not memorable.

But let me tell you what was memorable—-the little notecard that came with the ARC stating ‘be a peacock not a pigeon’. It brought the biggest smile to me face and I immediately put it on my fridge. I loved it and every morning that I opened my fridge for the coffee creamer, it made me laugh and look forward to reading this book. Continue reading “Review: A Little Bit of Grace by Phoebe Fox”

Review: The Sight of You (The Sight of You #1) by Holly Miller

At first glance, I almost passed on this book. It just didn’t stand out to me as unique when I was looking at the cover. Don’t get me wrong I love the colors in the cover, but it just seemed generic and I just didn’t find it that memorable.

But the summary convinced me otherwise. As soon as I read the summary I was eager to crack it open and get lost in a romantic story.

I liked to idea of the two characters falling in love and one of them having prophetic dreams, that combo sounded interesting and new. So needless to say it took little convincing for me to pick this one up! Continue reading “Review: The Sight of You (The Sight of You #1) by Holly Miller”
