Review: A Jewel Bright Sea (Mage and Empire #1) by Claire O’Dell

This book had a lot to recommend itself….pirates, adventure, magic, romance, fantasy. So many things that made it sound like a fun book to escape into.

I also thought the cover was pretty, though a little on the busy side. But ultimately I thought the promise of adventure and pirates sounded like a winning combo so picking up this one up when the time came, was full of promise for me.

I haven’t read anything by O’dell before but I know she has written a couple of other books that are part of a series, so I was curious to see what her writing style was and how the magic and pirates situation came together in this one! Except: BURSTS OF FIRE (Addicted to Heaven #1) by Susan Forest

I am thrilled to be able to give you guys a sneak peak of this book today! It’s been out since early August and has been receiving lots of great reviews.

I haven’t had the pleasure of reading it yet, but this little snippet sounds wonderful! If you like  epic fantasy then you will defiantly want to check this one out.

While this is more in the YA genre, I think it would be a book that adults would love as well! Not only does it have magic and other fantasy elements, but it sounds like it’s going to tackle some big issues too much as addiction and mental illness so I think that it’s content will appeal to a wide audience. Review: The Fellowship of the Ring (The Lord of the Rings #1) by J.R.R. Tolkien (Audible Edition)

I am about to come at you with an unpopular opinion. I haven’t read Lord of the Rings, I watched the films but was completely lost and hated them so much. I’ve tried to watch them so many times and simply gave up.

This is a series that I want to love so so so bad. I have multiple copies of the books but I am afraid to read them because I hated the movies so much and feared I would find the books boring.

Having discovered audiobooks recently, I thought this would be a good time to try my hand at reading this classic series especially with this fantastic narrator. After all, Tolkien is like the inventor of the modern fantasy genre so it’s basically required reading in my opinion! Review: Circe by Madeline Miller, Perdita Weeks (Narrator)

As I have recently shared with you all, I only just got into audiobooks. I read—or rather listened—-to a few that I really liked and saw instantly that I could benefit from an Audible subscription.

One of the first books recommended to me was Circe. My sister highly recommended it and so did just about everyone on my Instagram poll.

I was eager to read this one because frankly it’s been everywhere and I have been dying to read it. Everyone said Perdita Weeks was a wonderful narrator so I was excited to use my very first Audible credit on this book! Continue reading “Review: Circe by Madeline Miller, Perdita Weeks (Narrator)”
