Review: The Widow of Rose House by Diana Biller

Please excuse me while I fangirl so hard over this book! The cover alone threatened to send me into a swoon. It’s perfection and I love it so much.

I would have read the book for the cover alone, but the title—lord the title promised a perfect gothic romance which was exactly what I have been in the mood for lately!

When I cracked this one open, I couldn’t wait for the glory that was promised between the pages and what glory it was! Spoiler—I absolutely adored this book and can’t wait to read more by this author! Continue reading “Review: The Widow of Rose House by Diana Biller”

Review: The Widow of Pale Harbor by Hester Fox

I discovered Hester Fox last year with her debut novel, The Witch of Willow Hall, and thought it was marvelous.

When I saw that she had another haunting novel coming out, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it! I even saved it as my special October/Halloween feature!

It was released in the middle of September, and even though I wanted to start reading it right away, I also wanted to set the mood because her books demand it so I saved it for October!

Before we get down to this book, let’s talk for a minute about the cover! How unbelievably beautiful is this cover? I love this cover much more than her first book’s cover. The crumbling house in the background immediately made me think of something from a Poe story which has a special little connection to this book. Well done cover designer! Review: Secrets of the Lighthouse by Santa Montefiore (Audible Edition)

Santa Montefiore is an author that has popped up on my radar on and off again over the last few years. I have seen her books popping up on my Goodreads recommendations and social media over the years and always plan on reading one of her books but she is a prolific writer and just wasn’t sure where to start.

I wanted something good that would captivate me right away but I just wasn’t sure where to begin. A few months ago, I nabbed this book from my local used book store—mostly for the cover. The cover is divine lets just all agree on that please!

But I shelved it and moved on to other books rather than cracking it open. So here I was six months later searching for a new audiobook to listen to while running errands. I belong to the Audible romance package where I can listen to select titles for free, so I started searching for books in their catalogue and what should pop up but this book! I immediately downloaded it and started listening. Continue reading “Review: Secrets of the Lighthouse by Santa Montefiore (Audible Edition)”

Review: The Doll Factory by Elizabeth Macneal

To say that I was exited to get this book in the mail is an absolute understatement. I actually squealed in excitement when I opened this book up!

The cover is magical and haunting and the summary sounded like something I was absolutely going to sink my teeth into immediately! Victorian England, creepy stalkers, and all sorts of disturbing gothic devices were promised in the summary.

I could hardly contain my excitement. I was ecstatic to read this one and cracked it open almost immediately and what awaited me in the pages was a dark and disturbing story in addition to creepy dolls. Continue reading “Review: The Doll Factory by Elizabeth Macneal”

Review: The Poison Thread by Laura Purcell

Laura Purcell is an author who is on auto-buy for me. I read The Silent Companions last year and fell head over heels for her writing! I devoured The Silent Companions in days and lost sleep not just from staying up reading but from the creep factor as well! Such an incredible book.

I was thrilled to see that she had a new book coming out, and intact, I sent off to the UK to have this one delivered because I loved the cover so much and couldn’t wait for her latest novel! I have had my eye on this book for months and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. It sounds delightfully creepy and gothic!

Imagine my fan girl moment when I was approached to read this book early. I couldn’t wait t start reading and in fact, put everything else aside so that I could read this one first! Can you say, excited much? Continue reading “Review: The Poison Thread by Laura Purcell”
