Special Feature: Match Made in Paradise (Paradise, Alaska #1) by Barbara Dunlop

Berkley Romance books are some of my absolute favorite reads and when I saw this new series was being released, I knew it was going to be golden! Author Barbara Dunlop has written a number of spicy rugged romances and this is a new contempo romance series for her but she is no stranger to the genre of romance.

I am also here for romances set in obscure locations like Alaska. I mean when you think about escaping some where sexy to find unexpected love, Alaska isn’t exactly the place that I think of first but this book might just change my mind! I am so excited to sink my teeth into a sexy rugged hero, so bring on all the swooning!

If romances are your thing (they are definitely mine!) then you aren’t going to want to miss this new series. It’s already receiving sizzling reviews and readers are loving the chemistry between the characters and the stunning setting in Alaska! I am reading this one on my plane ride home and I cannot wait to start it! Pick up a copy for yourself today!

Special Feature: The Invisible Husband of Frick Island by Colleen Oakley

Nothing catches my eye like a quirky book. Not only did this title sound odd and quirky but the summary did as well. I mean, the main character’s husband dies and she just keeps right on going like nothing ever happened. If that doesn’t say odd then I am not sure what does. But as oddball as this book sounded, it also sounded like it was going to be a sweet story.

Colleen Oakley is a best selling author and no doubt has the skills to spin an engrossing tale—oddball or otherwise. I feel confident that this book will be another hit for Oakley, it’s already received a ton of praise and when I read this one later this summer, I have no doubt I will be left feeling satisfied and happy even if the summary seems a little heavier.

I really like the idea of an eccentric widow and a hot shot writer coming together romantically. I think this is going to have some chemistry, heart, emotion and an all around solid read that will leave readers feeling happy they picked it up. It is out now so be sure to snag yourself a copy of this great read!

Special Feature and Excerpt: Talk Bookish to Me by Kate Bromley

Book and Bookstagram fans this is the book you have been waiting for! I am so excited to share this book with you all today and share a little sneak peak with an excerpt. I mean, how can this book NOT be good with all the bookish things it promises? I love the enemies to lovers troupe the fact that this book contains that plus a second chance romance troupe plus books already makes it a home run for me!

This little excerpt was a fun introduction to the book and characters. I have been looking for some good bookish romances lately and this book is at the top of my TBR this summer and I cannot wait to see how it unfolds and if it meets all my expectations. I mean the witty banter and premise of the book sounds like it will and the excerpt was fun so I am holding out hope that that entire novel contains more of the same!

This is author Kate Bromley’s debut novel and I am so excited to read it after reading more about her. She is a teacher and loves romance and making people laugh, you cannot go wrong with that! And the fact that she wrote a romance with books make it even more exciting. Anyway take a look at the excerpt below and see if this something you can sink your teeth into this summer—-I know I can!

Review: The Midnight Rose by Lucinda Riley (Audible Edition)

I am a big big big Lucinda Riley fan. I have read almost all of her books and have loved many of them. This book is probably one of her most popular books and the reviews have consistently been strong, but it’s one of the few books I haven’t read by her. So I thought it was time to rectify that and start reading it—well listening to it.

Sadly, this one felt like a chore for me. I kept listening and listening and listening hoping that it would get better but for me it just fell flat. I had very high hopes for this one but it just wasn’t up to the Riley standard for me. I will say though, I am glad I listened to this one instead of physically reading it. There were a lot of difficult names and places that I would have had no clue how to pronounce had it not been for the amazing narrator.

I hate when I have to ‘make up’ how a town or person pronounces their name and that’s the beauty of Audible for me, I love knowing exactly how to pronounce a person’s name or the town etc. The narrators of this edition were great and I really liked their performance. Honestly I don’t think I would have kept reading/listening if it wasn’t for them.

Review: Isabelle and Alexander by Rebecca Anderson

I have really enjoyed the ‘proper romance’ books from Shadow Mountain publishing over the years and their covers are so great. Every time I see one of them I know that I am instantly going to enjoy the book. Some more than others of course, but generally their proper romances are all great reads and for me, they read very quick.

When this one came up for review, I knew it was an easy yes. It sounded so great, an arranged marriage and two characters that ultimately fall in love against all odds. I had read a couple of other reviews before picking this one up and saw that many reviewers noted it was a slow burn romance and I love slow burn romances. So needless to say I was eager to check this one out.

If historical romance is your jam, then you should definitely check out Shadow Mountain publisher because they have a number of titles to choose from and many of them are off the beaten path and charming. I adore their titles. While I didn’t love this one as much as I had anticipated, it was still a good read and I am glad that I picked it up!
