Review: A Highlander is Coming to Town (Highland, Georgia #3) by Laura Trentham

Yes I know it’s barely fall and I should be gearing up for all the spooky and mystery reads (don’t worry I am!) right now, but yes this is a Christmas book that you see here today!

Every year I always say to myself ‘I am going to wait until Nov 1 before reading any Christmas books’ and every year I manage to squeeze one or two in before all the horror and ghost stories.

This book sounded like it would be a quick, easy, and festive read that I could burn through in a day or two and it was exactly that and I finished it feeling satisfied and ready for the holiday season to kick off! Special Feature: A Most English Princess: A Novel of Queen Victoria’s Daughter by Clare McHugh

Queen Victoria is hands down my favorite British Queen. Not only was she an interesting and powerful ruler, but her romance and marriage with Prince Albert was decidedly romantic and I just can’t get enough of it.

But I will admit that I know little about her children other than she had tons and tons of children who eventually went on to wed other powerful rulers in Europe.

When I saw that this book was coming out, I jumped on it. It sounds so interesting to me even if it is more fictional than non fiction. I couldn’t fit it into my review calendar for the month but I am going to read it a little later on this year and I can’t wait to see how it is! The cover is stunning and the story sounds tantalizing and intriguing! Continue reading “Special Feature: A Most English Princess: A Novel of Queen Victoria’s Daughter by Clare McHugh”

Review: Before the Crown by Flora Harding

Not only is this cover absolutely breathtaking, but the story sounded excellent as well. But in all honesty, it was the cover that captured my attention and made me want to read this one!

Thanks to shows like The Crown, royals and Queen Elizabeth have been getting a lot of attention and focus. In The Crown though we don’t get too much background on the early years of Princess Elizabeth so that’s why this one excited me so much.

This book promised to shed some light on the romance between Phillip and Elizabeth and I was absolutely here for it! Continue reading “Review: Before the Crown by Flora Harding”

Special Feature and Excerpt: The Orphan of Cemetery Hill by Hester Fox

Hester Fox has quickly become a favorite author of mine. I have read all of her books and every fall I look forward to a new release.

I love her story telling style, her novels are full of atmosphere and lovely Gothic elements. I can’t say enough good things about her books and am so thrilled to be sharing a bit about this upcoming book today.

I will be reading it in October and this excerpt is tempting me so much to abandon my current read in favor of this one. I hope you enjoy this excerpt as much as I did and be sure to check this one out if you love a little romance and Gothic novels like Victoria Holt!
