Review: The Bright Side of Going Dark by Kelly Harms

Last year I read The Overdue Life of Amy Byler and absolutely loved it! I recommended it to every one I know—especially moms because it really hit the nail on the head when it comes to how all consuming parenting is.

I was over joyed to see what Kelly Harms was coming out with another novel and was eager to start reading it even if it did sound a bit different than her previous book.

The Overdue Life of Amy Byler brought a lot of heart and realism to the story and I was impressed by how emotional it was. I think a lot of readers write women’s fiction off as a fluff category but with Harms’s books there is never a lack of emotion and it most certainly isn’t fluff.  Continue reading “Review: The Bright Side of Going Dark by Kelly Harms”

Review: The Ingredients of You and Me (Hopeless Romantics #3) by Nina Bocci

Full confession, I am a sucker for cake and this cover was too good to pass up. I could almost smell the amazing-ness from the picture alone. I also love romantic books and right now I will take all the feel good comfort food—I mean books—that I can get!

I didn’t know that this book was part of a series, which of course I haven’t read the series, but it sounded like it would be a book I could read as a standalone with only a few characters from previous books making a few appearances. Which from what I gather from reading it, is entirely the case because I didn’t have any trouble jumping into this one.

Lately I have also really been digging the rom-coms and this book sounded like just the ticket to keep with my reading theme of late—so I baked a cake and sat down to enjoy this one. Continue reading “Review: The Ingredients of You and Me (Hopeless Romantics #3) by Nina Bocci”

There are so many good books coming out this spring and I am so excited to be able to share some of these great titles with you guys. One of the books that is out now and catching my eye is this one!

This book sounds like a wonderful read full of emotion and heart about family. This is a new to me author but one that has a large following of fans who rave about her books.

If you are looking for something about families but that packs more of an emotional punch then this might be just the book you are looking for right now! Continue reading “Special Feature: The Sweeney Sisters by Lian Dolan”

Review: Feels Like Falling by Kristy Woodson Harvey

When Kristy Woodson Harvey’s Peachtree Bluff series ended last year, I was so sad but at the same time looking forward to what she came up with next.

Harvey has such a great writing style that is refreshing, charming, and heartfelt so I knew that whatever she had up her sleeve was going to be outstanding.

When I saw that it was going to once again tap into the importance and power of friendships, I couldn’t have been more thrilled if I tried! Continue reading “Review: Feels Like Falling by Kristy Woodson Harvey”

Review: The Love Story of Missy Carmichael by Beth Morrey

This book sounded like something completely different than the traditional ‘romances’ that I tend to pick up when I am looking for something different.

When I read the description, the main character is 79 years old. I was like oh, interesting….which immediately put it into the category of something different for me. Plus I loved that it said the novel was a ‘coming of old’ story. Not going to lie it made me laugh and I usually tend to pick up books that feature young heroines so reading something with a much older heroine sounded new and exciting.

Plus this debut has been getting a lot of buzz lately and I didn’t want to miss out on something new and exciting, not to mention the sweet dog cartoon on the cover basically sealed the deal. Continue reading “Review: The Love Story of Missy Carmichael by Beth Morrey”
