Review: Where She Went by Kelly Simmons

I had to chuckle when I read the first sentence of the summary ‘Her only daughter has just gone away to college, and Maggie O’Farrell knows she’s turning into one of those helicopter parents she used to mock.’

Having worked in a high school for eleven years in the counseling office, I know a helicopter parent when I see one and the fact that someone used that analogy in their summary felt like this book was written especially for me.

But then things take a dark turn—and you know how I love thrilling disappearance—suddenly this book sounded a lot more interesting that I anticipated. I am fascinated by missing persons cases so when the helicopter mom’s daughter goes missing—-I couldn’t think of passing this one by! Continue reading “Review: Where She Went by Kelly Simmons”

Review: A Golden Grave (Rose Gallagher #2) by Erin Lindsey

I read the first book in this historical mystery series, Murder on Millionaires’ Row, back in 2018 and thought it was a solid beginning to her new series.

This author has written other fantasy novels but the Rose Gallagher series is a new genre for her and I thought she made a nice transition but I wasn’t completely sold on the series as there were some things that I thought needed a little working out and polishing.

While I had some reservations, I know that the transition from fantasy to historical fiction can be challenging so I decided to give this series another stab and see how things evolved with this latest installment. Continue reading “Review: A Golden Grave (Rose Gallagher #2) by Erin Lindsey”

Review: Secrets of the Lighthouse by Santa Montefiore (Audible Edition)

Santa Montefiore is an author that has popped up on my radar on and off again over the last few years. I have seen her books popping up on my Goodreads recommendations and social media over the years and always plan on reading one of her books but she is a prolific writer and just wasn’t sure where to start.

I wanted something good that would captivate me right away but I just wasn’t sure where to begin. A few months ago, I nabbed this book from my local used book store—mostly for the cover. The cover is divine lets just all agree on that please!

But I shelved it and moved on to other books rather than cracking it open. So here I was six months later searching for a new audiobook to listen to while running errands. I belong to the Audible romance package where I can listen to select titles for free, so I started searching for books in their catalogue and what should pop up but this book! I immediately downloaded it and started listening. Continue reading “Review: Secrets of the Lighthouse by Santa Montefiore (Audible Edition)”

Cover Reveal: Feels Like Falling by Kristy Woodson Harvey

As many of you know, I have been a huge fan of Kristy Woodson Harvey for a long long time! Her books are wonderful and a breath of fresh Southern air each time I crack one open.

When her Peachtree Bluff series came to an end this year, I was sad to say good bye to such a fabulous place and characters, but eager to see what she would be working on next!

Her latest book, Feels Like Falling, is going to be out in April 2020 and it’s already on my calendar for review! She is one of those authors that I just put on my calendar whenever I know she has a new release coming out, she’s that good! Special Feature: MET HER MATCH by Jude Deveraux

Jude Deveraux is a name that lives on in infamy in my family. My grandma who died seven years ago at the ripe old age of 93, loved Jude Deveraux. She read every single one of her novels, sometimes multiple times over. Whenever my grandma would ask us what we were reading we would tell her and naturally we would ask her what she had been reading lately.

No matter what book she was reading she always prefaced it with ‘well it’s about a gal….’ and at that point we would tune her out. She was forever reading books ‘about gals’ and we could never keep them straight. As my sister and I got older, we were curious what was so exciting about these ‘about a gal’ books which for some reason became synonymous with Jude Deveraux.

Well one day, my sister and I found one of Deveraux’s novels at my grandma’s house when we were teen girls and it was evident that we were much too young to be reading it judging from the sex, but shocked that our grandma who seemed much to old to be reading her books with sex in them—loved them!
