As we headed into the holiday season, this book was all over my social media and the adorable cover had my name all over it!

It sounded so great and I wanted to read it. I had it on hold at my library but at as December loomed closer, it became clear that I would likely not get this book until some time next spring.

One of my favorite IG bookstagramers, Saturday Nite Reader, happened to post a photo of this book and I comment on in and like a Christmas miracle, she gifted me this book! If there is a way to tempt me with a book, it’s to slap a dog on the front cover. I adore books that feature my favorite fury friends and this book was no exception.

I thought the cover was adorable and the series sounded fun and light. I love mysteries that incorporate animals but at times it’s admittedly hard to do animal detectives well.

Diane Kelly has clearly been doing something right as this is the 8th book in the series and it has a large fan base. Review: Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe by Heather Webber

I picked this book up because of the delicious looking pie on the front cover. I mean seriously, that pie looks so delicious and I hoped that the story inside would be equally satisfying.

I don’t think I even stopped to read what it was about, I simply saw pie and said YES. So when I picked it up, I basically went in blind and without any real expectations other than I hoped to read it while eating pie of my own (which did happen by the way!)

Review: All About Evie by Cathy Lamb

I have only read one of Cathy Lamb’s novels but as soon as I finished, I knew this was an author that I wanted to read more of!

Not only is she a local author for me (she’s from Oregon!) but she’s innovative with a strong voice and writing skills. Reading one of her books was a delight and when I saw this one was coming up, I was looking forward to it for months!

Besides the author’s name and appeal to me, I was instantly attracted to the story as well—mostly because it’s set on the San Juan Islands. If you have never been to the San Juan Islands, then you are missing out—they are so enchanting and beautiful so when I saw this book was set there—to a place I have visited quite a bit before—I couldn’t pass up the chance to read it!
