Review: Beyond a Reasonable Stout (Sloan Krause #3) by Ellie Alexander

Ellie Alexander always blows my mind, she writes such great series and they always seem to come out around the same time! Last week I just finished A Cup of Holiday Fear which is part of her Bakeshop Mystery Series which released 9/24/19 and like the next week this book was out!

So to say that Alexander is a prolific writer is an understatement. I mean she has like four different mystery series which is pretty impressive! I stumbled on this current series a couple of years ago and have found it so charming.

Returning to the fun characters and setting of Leavenworth, WA is always a treat and I am happy to crack open a new case and maybe crack open a beer of two in the process! Continue reading “Review: Beyond a Reasonable Stout (Sloan Krause #3) by Ellie Alexander”

Review: The Widow of Rose House by Diana Biller

Please excuse me while I fangirl so hard over this book! The cover alone threatened to send me into a swoon. It’s perfection and I love it so much.

I would have read the book for the cover alone, but the title—lord the title promised a perfect gothic romance which was exactly what I have been in the mood for lately!

When I cracked this one open, I couldn’t wait for the glory that was promised between the pages and what glory it was! Spoiler—I absolutely adored this book and can’t wait to read more by this author! Continue reading “Review: The Widow of Rose House by Diana Biller”

Review: The Painted Castle (Lost Castle #3) by Kristy Cambron

This was a book that I said yes to before realizing that it was part of a series. When I realized that it was indeed part of a series, I was a little apprehensive about reading it because it was the third book in the series.

But I really wanted to read it because it sounded so incredibly good and I love ‘sweeping’ novels and this book promised that and so much more so I didn’t want to pass on in simply because I hadn’t read the other books.

So I decided that I was just going to have to read it and see how it went. I know I have had my eye on the first book for quite a while so I debated about going back and reading that one first but ran out of time so I went into this one simply hoping that I wasn’t lost in the series! Review: A Cup of Holiday Fear (A Bakeshop Mystery #10) by Ellie Alexander

I am in full holiday themed reading mode right now! This is my second holiday themed mystery post of the week and I am thrilled to be able to share this book with you guys!

I only recently discovered Ellie Alexander in the last couple of years and started her Bakeshop Mystery series like mid way through but it’s been a absolute pleasure to read.

Not to mention she is from my home state and truly makes Oregon sound like the coolest place to live in! Oregon definitely has it’s perks but whenever I read a novel set here, I have a sense of pride for my state because no one can truly capture Oregon’s magic like a local author! Review: Penny for Your Secrets (Verity Kent #3) by Anna Lee Huber

As many of you know, I have been a long time fan of Anna Lee Huber’s novels. She’s an exceptional writer and one that is perpetually on auto-buy for me!

Her latest series, Verity Kent, has been no exception. It’s an interesting time period—set immediately following WWI—and both the heroine and her husband are different characters than she’s written before which I find exciting.

This book is the third book in this series, and I would recommend reading the series beginning to end, however, it’s is not necessary to remain orientated in the story. As with many of Huber’s novels, the focus is the mystery rather than the character’s side plots etc. It’s just so good I would hate for people to miss out on this one, beginning to end.
