Take Two Review: The Moon Sister (The Seven Sisters #5) by Lucinda Riley (Audible Edition)

I read this book only a few months ago, March to be exact. So why would I want to read it again so soon you ask? Well, I wanted to experience the Seven Sisters series again but in a whole new way.

I started re-reading the series back in April but this time, I started listening to all the books instead which proved to be quite a different experience all together. And now that all the sister stories are fresh in my mind, I was curious to see how this book held up on a second read through.

When I first got this book for review,  I was excited to read another sisters book and in all honesty I felt like I rushed through it the first time trying to take it all in as I was excited to return to such an interesting and satisfying series.

So the big question is did I like this book just as much as I did the first time around? The first time around it was a 5 star review for me easily! Continue reading “Take Two Review: The Moon Sister (The Seven Sisters #5) by Lucinda Riley (Audible Edition)”

Review: Bethlehem by Karen Kelly

This book came across my desk for review months ago. I adore the simple cover and didn’t need to think twice about adding this one to my review schedule because it was historical fiction and looked elegant! Let’s be honest that cover is a solid 10. It’s gorgeous and I absolutely love love love it!

While this book is a debut for writer Karen Kelly, I was looking forward to it because of all the early advance praise it received. Though it did have some large shoes to fill when it came to some of the early praise and promise of the summary.

Her writing style is described as ‘the writing chops of Ian McEwan and the story-craft of Lisa Wingate’. McEwan is a big name in literature so obviously I was a little skeptical, especially since I don’t really care for his novels, but that said, I was eager to see if this book lived up to the hype it’s been getting. Review: A Lady’s Guide to Gossip and Murder (Countess of Harleigh Mystery #2) by Dianne Freeman

You all know how much I love a fun historical mystery and Kensington Publishing has a bevy  of fabulous authors to choose from. And I have read a number of them and consistently enjoy many of their authors.

So when this one came up for review, I was counting on Kensington Publishing to not let me down! This author is new to me and even though it’s the second in a series, it is only the second book so I hoped that I hadn’t missed too much by starting on book 2 rather than book 1.

The cover of this book is so bright, cheerful, and eye-catching…..I almost forgot that it was meant to be a murder mystery! Continue reading “Review: A Lady’s Guide to Gossip and Murder (Countess of Harleigh Mystery #2) by Dianne Freeman”

Review: Summer on Mirror Lake (Honeymoon Harbor #3) by JoAnn Ross

I have only just discovered JoAnn Ross recently when I read her Christmas romance, Snowfall on Lighthouse Lane, which is also part of the Honeymoon Harbor series.

I found her writing well practiced and the story entertaining and I was open to reading more of her books.

As winter gave way to spring, another Honeymoon Harbor popped up as a review request and since I love summer romances, I figured this was a great time to say yes to another one of JoAnn Ross’s books!

This cover was especially eye catching and since the story is set in the Pacific Northwest, I couldn’t help but be excited by both the description and cover! Continue reading “Review: Summer on Mirror Lake (Honeymoon Harbor #3) by JoAnn Ross”

Review: The Last Woman in the Forest by Diane Les Becquets

I wanted to read this book for entirely superficial reasons.

I loved the dog on the cover.

I know, I know, you can barely see the dog but I know it’s a husky and I have a husky so as a husky lover, I couldn’t pass this book up based on that alone. That and in the summary it sounded like said dog was going to be part of the book, as the main character worked with rescue dogs.

So that’s what roped me in initially, but then I read the description and I liked the sound of the thriller/suspense genre mixed with a romance aspect of the book, so I decided to give it a try. Continue reading “Review: The Last Woman in the Forest by Diane Les Becquets”
