Say hello to my longest read of the year. Not necessarily the longest book in terms of pages, but rather in terms of how long it took me to actually read this one!

I started this one at the beginning of July people and here it is September and I am just now finishing it! In fact I finished it last week and to be honest that shocked me.

I fully expected to finish this book in only a few sittings and sadly I just didn’t But there are a couple of reasons for that—I had a lot of other books going and this one wasn’t a partner review so it was more of a ‘when I get to it’ type book. Juliet Marillier is such a talented writer with some seriously good fantasy novels on her resume! I read the first installment of her latest series The Warrior Bards last year and thought it was a great start to a new series.

I was so bummed that my September calendar filled up so fast, but I am going to read this second installment a little later this year but for now, I wanted to bring you guys all the details since it’s coming out today!

Not only have I really enjoyed this series so far, but I also loved the cover of this one so much. It’s beautiful and I can’t wait to read it here in the next couple of months. Review: Shadowborn (Born Prophecy #3) by Katie MacAlister

I started reading this series last year and it’s been a decent fantasy series that had kept me mostly interested.

There were some parts of the story that I liked better than others but overall it’s been pretty good and I felt invested enough in the series to see it through until the end.

Review: The Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives In Your Home (Welcome to Night Vale #3) by Joseph Fink, Jeffrey Cranor

This book was a huge shot in the dark for me. I hadn’t heard of the series before, and the fact that it was the third in a series so I had no idea what I was getting myself into….and it’s categorized as sci-fi which I usually don’t read much of.

I thought the title sounded interesting and I loved the promise of a creepy old woman haunting people and the cover is quirky and eye catching, so in the end I thought…..why not.

It’s rare that I read a ‘shot in the dark’ book, I usually try and stick within my favorite genres while occasionally trying something ‘new to me’ but this one was completely different than what I normally read so I kept coming back to the catchy title (even if it was long!) and I ultimately just went for it. Review: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (The Chronicles of Narnia #2) by C.S. Lewis (Audible Edition)

Even though I was a big reader as a child, this book just never made it on my to be read list. I wasn’t into fantasy as a kid and thus this book never appealed to me. I was way more into the American Girl books than Narnia and I even went to a Catholic school…..the Narnia books are practically required reading at Catholic schools!

But for whatever reason, I just by passed this entire series until now. As an adult I have absolutely fallen in love with fantasy and magical novels and now that I have a little boy, I can’t wait to share the Narnia books with him so I decided that I needed to give them a go before he was old enough to read them on his own (he is 3 so we have a while)

I know that I started the series a little out of order with this one technically being the second book in the series, but it was the one I was most familiar with so I decided to start there.
