Review: The Luster of Lost Things by Sophie Chen Keller

When I got this book in the mail, the sweet dog on the over sitting with a little boy totally did me in. We all know how I feel about covers with animals on them…I’m a complete and utter sucker!

What a way to lure readers….so cute and charming was this cover. Plus I love the blue and gold accents. Basically this was an easy yes for a review based on the cover.

But the question for me was when can I work it in to my schedule? I was already pretty tight for early fall reviews so I had planned on Oct for this one.

Review: The Secret Language of Stones: A Novel (The Daughters of La Lune #2) by M.J. Rose

When I read the first book, The Witch of Painted Sorrows, I had no idea that it was going to end up being an actual ‘series’. It read so well as a stand alone book that I was surprised to see it would be becoming a series.

So when this one came across my desk, I was thrilled to review it and see how the ‘series’ was going to develop as there were some loose ends that weren’t exactly completely tied up in the first book.

This book was right up my alley, WWI France. I love books set in this time period not to mention a little hint of the super natural and some romance which made for a unique read all around!

The Romanov dynasty reaches its sudden, brutal end, a young jewelry maker discovers love, passion, and her own healing powers in this rich and romantic ghost story. Nestled within Paris’s historic Palais Royal is a jewelry store unlike any other.

Review: The Last Days of Magic by Mark Tompkins

This book has only recently been on my radar. It’s being market to fans of Deborah Harkness’s All Soul’s Trilogy so of course when I saw it, I was excited to read something that promises so much!

Review: The Return of the Witch (The Witch’s Daughter #2) by Paula Brackston

I’ve been a big fan of Paula Brackston…….especially her witch books!

Ironically the only book of her’s I haven’t read is The Witch’s Daughter! I have it but I just haven’t gotten around to reading it for some reason. So when this book came up for review, I was hesitant only because I haven’t read the first one. However, I was so excited to read another of her witch books that I just gave in a read this one!

So I would be lying if I said I should have read the first book before this one. There were a lot of references to things that happened in the first book, however Brackston did a great job at helping the reader navigate the story even if they missed the first book.

After five years in the Summerlands, Gideon has gained his freedom. Elizabeth knows he will go straight for Tegan, and that she must protect the girl she had come to regard as her own daughter.
