Review: Where Serpents Sleep (Sebastian St. Cyr #4) by C.S. Harris

This series has quickly become a favorite of mine. I mean, I’ve read the later books and enjoyed them but now that I am going back and reading the other books in the series in order, I am seeing the nuanced relationships develop and I simply can’t stop reading!

I only meant to read one or two books in the series, but I’ve discarded that notion and am fully intending to binge read this series before the month is out!

I am currently starting book 6 so I am super excited to read all of the books and share not only my reviews but my take two reviews once I read the later books the second time! Continue reading “Review: Where Serpents Sleep (Sebastian St. Cyr #4) by C.S. Harris”

Review: Starborn (Born Prophecy #2) by Katie MacAlister

When this book came up for review, I quickly noticed that it was part of a series and with a fantasy novel, it’s so hard to skip around in the series, so I decided to read the first book before I picked this one up for review.

I am glad I noticed that this was part of a series because I would have been so lost without that first book so if you haven’t read the first book, stop and read it before moving on to this one!

When I read the first book there were a couple of small concerns I had going into this one, but not enough concerns about the story to not want to read this one, in fact I was hoping this one would be better than the first book. Review: Interview with the Vampire (The Vampire Chronicles #1) by Anne Rice (Audible Edition)

I have had Interview with a Vampire on my TBR list for YEARS. The 1994 film was a favorite of mine and I was eager to read the books when I was older.

My sister and mom gave me the book on more than one occasion to read but it just never felt like the right time, but for some reason, after Halloween this year felt like that right time.

That was when I started this audiobook…..early Nov and here it is the first part of Jan and I am just now finishing it. Simon Vance was the narrator and he did a fabulous job with the narration, but I still had mixed feelings about the overall story. Review: Why Mermaids Sing (Sebastian St. Cyr #3) by C.S. Harris

This mystery series has been one that I have read and enjoyed but wouldn’t consider a favorite….until now. I picked up the later books in the series but hadn’t gone back to read the earlier books.

While I didn’t always feel out of place or lost in the plot, there were clearly nuanced relationships between the characters within the larger narrative that left me feeling not as invested in the series as I had hoped.

I read the first book a few years ago and thought it was good and at the time had planned to read the series in order, but I just didn’t have it in my reading calendar to do that. Well a few years went by and here I was over Christmas break and found that I had a clear schedule and nothing to read. The second book in this series was on sale so I downloaded it and devoured it in a day, needless to say I downloaded this one immediately following and was incredibly thankful for instant download because I couldn’t wait to see what Sebastian investigated next. Review: When Gods Die (Sebastian St. Cyr #2) by C.S. Harris

I was approached a few years ago to read the Sebastian St Cyr series and at that time it was on book 12! I decided to give it a go, but I wanted to read the first book before I started book 12—so I did.

I read the first book and I thought it was really good but I didn’t have a desire to go back and read the series from beginning to end so that I could read book 12. So  read book 1 and then started book 12. Since then I have read books 12-14 with book 15 coming out later this spring.

As I was approaching the end of the year, I wanted to read something quick and fun, I happened to see this second book was on sale, so I picked it up randomly just to pass some time. Continue reading “Review: When Gods Die (Sebastian St. Cyr #2) by C.S. Harris”
